Gang violence in Salinas is too high ❖ Vicinity to correctional facilities and state prisons ❖ Salinas is the Nuestra Familia headquarters ❖ Gang recruitment begins in elementary school ❖ 85. 7% of Salinas’ homicides were gang related (SWP, 2013) ❖ Salinas residents fear local gangs
