Communities Care: Re-imaging Respite for Family Caregivers of Older Adults Welcome Communities Care Respite Pilot Grantee Partners!! • Ardent Solutions, Inc. , Genesee Valley Central School District, and Allegany County Office for the Aging will create the Intergenerational Enrichment and Educational Respite Program • Healthy Community Alliance, Total Senior Care PACE, Home. Care & Hospice, Cattaraugus County Department of Aging, Directions in Independent Living, Interfaith Caregivers, Inc, and Wyoming Office for the Aging will create WNY E-Respite: Finding Relief through Technology • West Falls Center for the Arts, The Magellan Group, Alzheimer’s Association of WNY, and creative partners (local musicians) will promote Memory Café Replication, Sustainability & Expansion for Caregivers, Older Adults with Dementia, and Older Adults Living Alone in Rural Communities The Philanthropic Initiative / www. tpi. org 4

ARCH Innovative and Exemplary Respite Service Guidelines ARCH recognizes (certifies) respite programs and services nationwide based on these 6 characteristics – demonstrated over 3 years: 1. Demonstration of positive outcomes - respite services shown to have benefits to family caregivers (evaluation with NYAM) 2. A written plan with observable, measurable goals and objectives (your pilot work plan) 3. A program or service manual or guide (policies & procedures for staff, volunteers) 4. Person- and family-centered services (family caregivers inform pilot services & have purposeful roles in a program advisory capacity) 5. A professional development plan (staff and volunteer training guidelines – part of your program manual) 6. A plan for collecting and evaluating data – evaluation includes measuring caregiver satisfaction, respite service implementation, and at least one caregiver-focused outcome (evaluation with NYAM) The Philanthropic Initiative / www. tpi. org 6
