Logan Peak, Lax Field (2016) Mixed Media

Description The artwork title describes the subject of the painting. The subject is a lacrosse field before a big MLL ( major League Lacrosse). The mixed media shows a photograph of a moment in time. In this mixed media collage, various colored paper shapes are glued to the paper to show the field in the original photograph. Paint was also used to create the track behind the lax field. The background images were painted using a blurring technique to create distance and emphasis on the image. The texture creates a feeling that shows the calm air before all the action happens. The glossy newspaper creates a vibrant glow to the lacrosse field.

Analysis Lax Field, creates a weight or balance of the image. The field is the focal point of the composition. The collage technique draws the viewer into the collage to visually explore the color and shape magazine pieces used to produce the lacrosse feeling. The elements of color, shape and texture create variety and unity to the painting. The contrast of the glossy paper of the collage the painted background creates interest to the composition.

Interpretation Lax Field, was created to show excitement and bright colors. The artwork is easily relatable to viewers, creating a universal theme of capturing a specific moment in time. I conveyed the energy of a lacrosse field by creating a different background.

Judgement Lax Field, was an exciting piece of artwork for me to complete. Lacrosse is my favorite sport. I get to be a part of a team. We all get to grow up together and learn from each other. The moments before and after the games are the best because we make the best moments. I tried to portray this in my artwork and show the emothions.
