Description The artwork title describes the subject of the painting. The subject is a French coach admiring a the new talent of Real Madrid. The mixed media replicates a photograph of a moment in time. In this mixed media collage, various colored paper shapes are glued to the paper to depict the woman in the original photograph. Acrylic paint was also used to create the face night background. The background images were painted using a blurring technique to create distance and emphasis on the image. A texturized feeling is created using the overlapping of the collage technique, using color variation and paper size. The glossy magazine paper pieces create a vibrant glow to the women’s image. This creates an interesting contrast to the duller, blurring background.

Analysis Zidane, creates a weight or balance of the image. The coach is the focal point of the composition. The collage technique draws the viewer into the collage to visually explore the color and shape magazine pieces used to produce the woman’s image. The elements of color, shape and texture create variety and unity to the painting. The contrast of the glossy paper of the collage the painted background creates interest to the composition.

Judgement Zidane, was an exciting piece of artwork for me to complete. Zidane is the best current coach for Real Madrid. I often use soccer teams to produce teacher examples. I have a personal message and connection to the artwork. This assists in producing a successful piece. It captures the essence of his personality.
