STUDENTS WILL LEARN ABOUT POETRY AND POETS THROUGH CLOSE READING, DISCUSSION AND WRITING Students determine the characteristics of poetry and consider what inspires writers and poets Students closely read analyze the same poems that the main character “Jack” reads Students track what “Jack” is learning about poetry alongside their own learning though close readings. Students also experiment with writing their own poetry inspired by their reading. Love That Dog by Sharon Creech.
