Combatting Far Right and Extremism Learning Outcomes • • • Will be able to identify extreme right political views, and explain why they are not acceptable in a democratic society. Will be able to recognise reasons why young people get involved in extreme right wing groups, and identify ways to actively prevent themselves being associated with them. Will be able to apply relevant political terms to their analysis of the far right.

Definitions • Radicalisation: the action or process of causing someone to adopt radical positions on political or social issues. • Extremism: holding extreme political or religious views. • Terrorism: the unlawful use of violence and intimidation to bring about political or social change.

How does today’s session link with British Values? Democracy: making decisions together, for example how we can tackle radicalisation and strengthen community cohesion. Rule of law: understanding rules matter for example collaborating with communities to create rules and codes of behaviour. Individual liberty: freedom for all, for example reflecting on differences and understanding we are free to live different lives without judgement. Mutual respect and tolerance: treat others as you want to be treated, for example sharing and respecting everyone.
