Ctenophora or Cnidaria? • Belong to Ctenophora phylum, not Cnidaria • Ctenophores don’t have stinging tentacles • Ctenphora phylum consists of about 100 to 150 species & about 90 species of comb jellies
Where do Comb Jellies live? • Prefer coastal salt water habitats in bays (protected areas) and estuarine locations (where saltwater meets freshwater) • Can also be found in brackish water with low oxygen and high pollution • Prefers warm waters

How do Comb Jellies reproduce? • Mostly sexual as hermaphrodites, occasionally asexual • Release their eggs and sperm into the water • Fertilization takes place outside the body, in some species it takes place inside the body
