Introduction When photography first started out, everything was in black and white. So, when someone finally invented a way to show color in photos, it was a pretty big deal. Photos with color showed much more detail and attracted more interest.
Inventors James Clark Maxwell and Thomas Sutton were the main contributors to the world of color photography. James Clark Maxwell - In 1861, Maxwell created the first ever colored photograph. Maxwell was a famous scientist and excelled in many areas including, electromagnetism and astronomy. Albert Einstein thought highly of Maxwell. Thomas Sutton - In 1861, Sutton was the photographer for Maxwell’s experiments. Sutton took the first ever permanent color photograph. He also was the inventor of the Sutton Panoramic Camera.

Invention Maxwell invented the world's first ever colored photograph. He created this by taking three separate photos, each one with a different color film over the lens. When the images were developed, he projected them all on the same spot on a wall, using a different projector for each separately colored image. When the images were combined, the image was a fully colored image. The three colored plates are now in a small museum in the house he was born. Sutton invented a camera called the Sutton panoramic camera. This was the first camera of it’s kind to take wide angled photos (a photo that captures more than the human eye). This was created by using two hollow glass hemispheres. The use of this camera ws to take larger photos of events or landscape. This camera was

How did this revolutionize photography? - The invention of colored photography has greatly revolutionized the photography world. If it weren’t for colored photos we wouldn’t have as well detailed photos, a lot less boring ways of seeing where we’ve been or where we’re going.
