Colonel Samuel Lombardo Veteran COL Samuel Lombardo was born on July 12, 1919 in Calabria, Italy. A dedicated veteran of the military, COL Lombardo fought in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam as an enlisted Army soldier. He joined the military on November 11, 1939 and served as an Intelligence Officer, and as a specialist in topography. Currently, COL Lombardo has been active and involved in the military and civilian community. He enjoys sharing his experiences of the war, particularly with the youth at local schools. His dedication to the country has inspired him to share these experiences in order to express his appreciation for our country's freedom.

Life After War " An inquisitive mind [is what] you need to get ahead" ~ Samuel Lombardo After the war, COL Samuel Lombardo pursued his interest in growing orange, avocado and lime trees. He also, attended a Japanese language school, and took classes in photography, machinery, and auto mechanics. COL Lombardo, enjoys learning new things.
Achievements In dedication of the war and for those fighting for freedom, COL Samuel Lombardo along with fellow soldiers created a hand made flag out of scraps of pillow cases, curtains and even a old German surrender flag. After his experiences of being in the military, COL Lombardo wrote the book O're the Land Of The Free published on August 14, 2000. This book described his experiences in Italy as well as World War II. It retells the challenges he faced, and perseverance in fighting for the freedom of our country.
