Some college application terms Rolling admission = you can apply at any time. No official opening or closing dates for the application Automatic admission = public universities in Texas use rank to determine your acceptance In general: top 10% is automatically admitted to public Texas universities Holistic review = when a university looks at more than your test scores and grades to determine if you are accepted i. e. leadership, sports, theater, your essays, letters of recommendation, etc.

When to apply? Early/priority/early action = an earlier application deadline, usually before winter break. You’ll get your admission decision sooner. Sometimes you have to apply early to be considered for scholarships Early decision = this is a BINDING DECISION. If you are admitted, YOU WILL ATTEND. PERIOD. Ms. Dodson does NOT recommend applying early decision EVER.
