College Success Program “The College Success Program has made me more confident in myself. I have received help with my organization, time management, and study skills that have really made a difference in my college experience. ”

Overview • The College Success Program was created for new degree-seeking students who place into 2 or 3 pre-college level courses. • This is determined by placement test scores in reading, math, and writing.

Program Benefits • Individual attention. • The opportunity to receive success skills instruction. • Access to all of UC’s free student services Uptown and at Clermont as well as to community resources.

Achievement Coaching • The focus of an Achievement Coach is to help students build time management skills, study strategies, and test-taking skills to help them succeed. • The main goal is for the Achievement Coach to provide support through problem solving obstacles related to academics. • Academic Advising and intervention for those who place into 2 -3 developmental courses

An Achievement Coach will help you: • Create Individual Action Plans. • Plan short-term goals and relate them to longterm goals. • Discuss plans of action to reach goals. • Analyze, support, and motivate.

An Achievement Coach will also provide referrals to on- and off- campus agencies • Compass Counseling Services • Learning Center • Disability Services • Faculty Advisors • Workforce One • Jobs and Family Services • Other community outreach groups

Preparatory Courses The following courses are considered preparatory courses: -English 0097 Intro to Academic Reading -English 1000 Intro to English Composition -Reading 1005 Reading Academic Texts -Reading 1007 Math Success Seminar -Math 0004 Preparatory Mathematics

Success Pathways • The College Success Program helps build a bridge for college success. • It is vital that students take preparatory courses first! • These preparatory courses prepare students for the academically rigorous courses within and across disciplines.

Program Guidelines • Only register for 12 -14 credit hours. • Drop/Adds need approval from Achievement Coach. • Schedules need approval from Achievement Coach. • Advising with the Achievement Coach.

Transition to Academic Programs • The College Success Program helps students while they are working through preparatory courses. The Achievement Coach works collaboratively with faculty advisors. • Once the students complete the College Success Program they will transition out of the program and work exclusively with faculty advisors.

She has given me tools on how to manage my time, track my assignments and grades, led me toward the correct individual(s) to assist in all my needs or questions. She helped me pick my classes for the past few terms to ensure I am on schedule with my degree. ”

FERPA means… • Student records cannot be released to parents without prior written consent of the student. This includes grades, academic schedules, and financial aid status. • College staff and faculty cannot disclose information about a student’s progress without the student’s consent.
