Collaboration of BLTP UC and University Giessen Short
Collaboration of BLTP, UC and University Giessen Short history Research based on Dinuclear Idea 3. Various supports 4. Future aspects 1. 2.
1. Short history University Giessen, founded 1607 l Giessen: 65 km north of Frankfurt, 85 km north of GSI (Darmstadt) l 21 000 students l Physics: Roentgen 1879 -87, Wien, Drude, Bothe l
1. Short history l Start of collaboration with workshop at BLTP in 1991 First visits in Giessen from 1992: Prof. V. Soloviev, Prof. S. Ivanova, Prof. R. Jolos, Dr. N. Antonenko l About 90 visits of 20 participants (students, graduates, scientists, professors) of BLTP, UC and FLNR l
2. Research based on Dinuclear Idea l Dinuclear system concept suggested by V. V. Volkov (1986) A 1 A 2
2. Research based on Dinuclear Idea l Two main degrees of freedom of the dinuclear model: 1. Relative motion of nuclei 2. Nucleon transfer between nuclei
2. Research based on Dinuclear Idea l Application of dinuclear model: – Cross sections for production of superheavy nuclei – Cross sections for quasifission and fission – Nuclear cluster structure in normal, hyper- and superdeformed nuclei
2. Research based on Dinuclear Idea l Results published in – 60 papers in refereed journals, for example Phys. Rev. C, Nucl. Phys. A, Phys. Lett. B – 30 papers in conference proceedings and reports
3. Various supports Collaboration is supported by various sources. § University Giessen: position of graduate students, presently A. Andreev § Federal Minister of Education and Research (BMBF): position of graduate student, T. Shneidman, 2000 -2003
3. Various supports § Heisenberg-Landau Programme: Collaboration between BLTP and Giessen, supported by Federal Minister of Education and Research (BMBF) Research visits in Giessen and Dubna
3. Various supports § German Academic Exchange Service: § Leonhard-Euler Programme: 3 UC students with fellowships of 80 Euro/month for 9 months in Dubna plus one-month visit in Giessen, since 1999 § Short term visits of scientists: up to three months
3. Various supports § German Academic Exchange Service: § Graduate fellowships: for a stay of a half year in Giessen for working on thesis and studying § Guestprofessorship: for teaching and research, Prof. S. Ivanova in 2005
3. Various supports § Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR): Support of collaboration between BLTP and Giessen on nuclear reactions and structure within dinuclear model since 1996, mutual research visits
3. Various supports § Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft § Research project on cross sections for superheavy elements, positions for graduates and scientists, presently Dr. Antonenko for one year § Mercator-professorship for Prof. R. Jolos for one year in 2001/2002
3. Various supports § Alexander von Humboldt Foundation: n Fellowships for young scientists Dr. N. Antonenko, 1997/98, Dr. G. Adamian, 1999/00, reinvitations n Humboldt-Research-Price for Prof. R. Jolos, 2004 -06
3. Various supports § Volkswagen Foundation (Hannover): Cooperation with natural and engineering scientists in Central and Eastern Europa: Russian. German research project on superheavy elements with supports for scientists at BLTP and for research visits since 2001
3. Various supports § European Physical Society: Grants for graduate students of BLTP and UC to study and work on their doctoral thesis for a half year in Giessen. Up to now 4 fellowships.
3. Various supports § Heraeus Foundation (Hanau): Support of Symposium on Nuclear clusters: from light exotic to superheavy nuclei, near Giessen in 2003, organized by R. Jolos et al. , 17 participants from Dubna out of 92 participants
Symposium on Nuclear Clusters, August 2003
4. Future aspects l Larger weight of theoretical low-energy nuclear physics at GSI (Darmstadt) after reorganisation of the Department of Theory. In future closer theoretical collaboration with GSI. l My wish: Continuation of the fruitful collaboration of Giessen with BLTP and UC in future.
