What is a Resume? (¿Qué es un “curriculum”? ) A resume is a short, concise document used for job applications. The purpose of a resume is to provide recruiters with a brief overview of the candidate’s work history. A good resume should be targeted at a specific job and one to two pages long. (Un curriculum es un documento corto y conciso, usado para postulaciones a trabajos. El propósito de un curriculum es entregar a los reclutadores una breve descripción al historial laboral del candidato. Un buen curriculum debería ser dirigido a un trabajo específico y de una o dos páginas de extensión). What to Include on a Resume: Contact Information, Resume Summary or Resume Objective, Work Experience, Education, Skills, Additional Sections (Awards, Courses, Publications, Certificates, Conferences, etc. )

Activity 1: - Answer the following questions. 1. What is the main purpose for a Resume? 2. What is the length of a Resume? 3. Why is it a good idea to write a Resume when applying for a job?

RESUME EXAMPLES

REMEMBER As you noticed in the examples before, both Resumes have: A) Contact information: Your address, phone number, e-mail, etc. B) Brief introduction: your profile, objectives, etc. C) Work experience: Jobs and functions you have worked D) Skills: What abilities or capabilities you have. E) Education: High school to college or university. F) Others: can be awards, courses, certificates, etc.

Activity 2: Time to work! - Create a very short and simple Resume. - You can use real information (or just fake information) TO CONSIDER: Your resume MUST have the 6 things mentioned in the previous page. (A considerar: Tu “resume” DEBE tener las 6 cosas mencionadas en la página anterior) You can make it by hand or in a word document. (Puedes hacerlo a mano o en un documento de word)
