Cole Matthews • Cole Matthews is a kid who got beaten up by his dad when he was a kid. He holds a lot of anger and that’s how he got to Touching Spirit Bear Island.

Cole Beats up Peter • Cole robs a gas station. Peter finds out and tells the police. When Cole finds out, he smashes Peter’s head into the ground, he might go to jail.

The People in Cole’s Life Peter • Garvey Peter is a kid in Cole’s school who snitches on him. Cole beats him up. • • Edwin • Cole’s Dad • • Edwin is Klingkit elder who tells Cole about Spirit Bear Island. Cole chooses that instead of jail he plans to escape but something much different happens. Garvey is Cole’s parole officer. He tries to help Cole but Cole doesn’t want it. He just thinks that he’s another person that just wants Cole out of his life. Cole’s dad is who taught Cole to be the way he is. Whenever Cole would do something bad, his dad would beat him, and his mom wouldn’t care.

Circle Justice • Circle Justice is what Cole does to help him get over his anger. In the process of circle justice, somebody brings up going to Spirit Bear Island instead of jail. Cole decides to do that instead of jail, and that’s where he meets the spirit bear.

Cole gets Mauled • Cole is angry. The spirit bear keeps showing up on the island Cole tries to kill it. When the spirit bear confronts him, Cole tries to attack it. The spirit bear mauled him.

Cole Changes • Several months later, Cole comes back to the island he feels bad about Peter. He wants Peter to come to the island, and he does.

Cole’s Redemption • Cole has Peter come to the island. It takes a while but Peter finally sees the spirit bear. After that, Cole and Peter make up!
