What is House Bill 5? • Reduces the number of STAAR/EOC tests to five: English I , English II, Algebra I, Biology and US History • New attendance requirements: – If a student is not in attendance 90% of the time, student will receive “LOC” instead of a grade. – Student will not receive credit until the LOC contract is completed. • Requires students to graduate under the new graduation plans: • All 8 th grade students must choose an ENDORSEMENT. Dual Credit… More details regarding Dual Credit and our eighth graders… In February all 8 th graders will take PAAM is a practice exam that prepares students for TSI. In April TSI window begins, and all 8 th graders will take the TSI. The TSI or Texas Success Initiative is an exam that determines a student’s eligibility. TSI goal score is 351. If student scores a 351+, SISD s/he will then apply to El Paso Community College, and s/he is eligible to take Dual Credit class during the Foundation 2019 -2020 school year. plus Endorsement
