General information from department/group/section • Covid-19 general o Current teleworking measures have been extended up to the end of March 2021. Please keep your EDH leave status up to date. o Proximeters – remember, mandatory to wear on CERN site as of 1 March 2021 § New proximeters are distributed as from 22 February, please make an appointment here to obtain one or exchange it if you already have one. § You might have to exchange your charger, too, if it is white and bears the name ‘NANOCABLE’ o Switzerland will relax some measures on 1 March § Reopening of non-essential shops, libraries, museums, zoos and some open air sport facilities like tennis courts (however with restricted numbers of people, distance and masks) § Meetings up to 15 people outdoors will be also allowed. § Epidemiological situation to be re-evaluated end March to possibly allow further relaxation in April. • Please take careful note of the information sent through the weekly ‘Covid-19 updates’ channel, in particular the link to the list of countries with limitations for entry into France/Switzerland, as the situation is constantly evolving 23. 12. 2021 G. General information from department/group/section • CERN telephony o Landline phones are being discontinued at CERN, both the old ones and the more recent IP devices using Skype for Business o Migration to a softphone application, called CERNphone, is underway (details here) § Developed by IT in the context of MALT § Consists of mobile softphone app for i. OS and Android (already available) as well as a desktop application available for Windows, MAC-OS and Linux (still under development) o Pilot phase successfully completed, service is now fully operational and available o People who have a personal phone number should be able to already migrate it to CERNphone (instructions here) o For newcomers, the default will be CERNphone 23. 12. 2021 G. General information from department/group/section • DOCT contracts ending in 2021 can be exceptionally extended beyond the 3 years due to the disruption caused by covid-19 (if budget available) o Request submitted for 3 -month extension for all CEI students ending this year o We will have to wait for approval given at the sector level • Emergency guides for buildings 6, 9 and 10 o The role of the Emergency Guide is to support the evacuation of a building in case of alarm as well as to ensure the safekeeping of the personnel in the process of evacuation o We need to find 8 emergency guides (1/building/floor) o Thanks to Elias who already covered this role in the past o We have volunteers from the section to take the necessary training, if needed – will be decided by group management after input from all the sections is collected 23. 12. 2021 G. General information from department/group/section • Beam commissioning at PSB o Progressing in the set up of the beam for the PS § LHCINDIV in all rings § TOF-like beam in all rings (up to 5 E 12 p, 50 turns injected and accelerated to 2 Ge.
