Coercion 609. 341 Subd. 14 • “Coercion” means the use by the actor of words or circumstances that cause the complainant reasonably to fear that the actor will inflict [imminent? ] bodily harm upon the complainant or another, or the use by the actor of confinement, or superior size or strength, against the complainant to accomplish the act. that causes the complainant to submit to sexual penetration or contact against the complainant’s will. Proof of coercion does not require proof of a specific act or threat.
Sexual extortion Subd. 1 Whoever verbally, electronically, or in writing makes any of the following threats with the [intent? purpose? ] to cause and thereby causes another to engage in sexual [penetration or contact] [against their will or nonconsensual] is guilty of sexual extortion and may be sentenced as provided in subdivision 2:
• 1. A threat to inflict damage to the property of the complainant or another; or • 2. A threat to unlawfully withhold or injure a trade, business, profession, position, or employment; or • 3. A threat to make or cause to be made a criminal charge, whether true or false;
• 4. A threat to commit a violation under section 617. 261 [currently invalid] • 5. A threat to [unlawfully] restrict or withhold parenting time; • 6. A threat to harm [cause bodily harm to] or take a companion animal as defined by Sec. 343. 20, owned, possessed, or kept by the complainant;
• 7. A threat to expose any fact or piece of information that, if revealed, would tend to subject the complainant to hatred, contempt, [embarrassment], ridicule, or [prejudice/bias], or to the disruption of the complainant’s significant relationships or faith practice; or • 8. A threat to withhold complainant’s housing, or to cause complainant a loss, disadvantage, or change in cost of complainant’s housing.
