How to do Coal Burning… • Step 1 Get some nice hot coals going. • Step 2 Select a branch or wood to make your spoon/bowl. Imagine the final product when selecting your piece. • Step 3 You can outline the shape of your spoon with a pen/pencil. • Step 4 Use a stick or shovel to remove a coal from the fire and place it on the wood where you want your scoop. Let the coals smolder on the wood.
How to do Coal Burning… • Step 5 Aid the burning of the coals by blowing on it. Do this for a few minutes. Be careful not to push the coals off your spoon/bowl because they can roll off and fall on your shoe! • Step 6 Repeat with a fresh set of coals from the campfire when the coals go out. They should be red hot. If they are black, then they burned out.

The coarser the sandpaper the more it will scrape and the finer the sandpaper, the less it will scrape. – This will take time and patience because it requires several minutes of sanding. Don’t give up until the depression is beige/tan or the original color of the wood.
