Communication is the KEY • MEMBERS Greet the members at the door. Acknowledge everyone. If there is any trouble, be sure to address it. • BOARD OFFICERS Many board officers complain, “I was not given any work to do” Assign tasks and make sure that all tasks assigned are completed. • ADVISORS They may help you with any situation. Good email • Everyone has their own style • Color, bolding, and underlining help point out specific facts • Remember to send emails To: yourself, but BCC the club members. Day before event Text all members who signed up • Example: “Hi everyone, this is Anna from Key Club! Thank you for signing up for the Eskaton Senior Center Board Game event. Membership Recruitment • Club Day • TV Bulletin Reminders • Intercom Reminders • Post flyers outside of advisor’s classroom (flyers and brochures are available for free in Kiwanis Store) • Visit individual classrooms (Government, etc) if they are focused on community service or require community service hours • Post what Key Club is on the school website (parents see this!) Meeting Attendance • Have members run activities / ice breakers • Speakers • Service projects during meetings • Making cards for soldiers or senior citizens • Collecting recycling from each classroom • Offer to help teachers in whichever way they need it • Clean up the school • Make bookmarks to give to elementary schools • Start and end on time (increases trust) • Hand out candy for Key Club trivia answers • Give out monthly awards (advertise this beforehand) • Greet everyone at the door, and say goodbye /thanks (you are a friend a leader!) Event Attendance • Remind members of monthly awards and scholarships • Remind them of responsibility once you sign up (if you can’t make it, you need to find someone else who will go for you) • Text messages the day before • Say thank you in person and online • Monthly and predictable events • Ask your members: where do YOU want to volunteer?
