Who We Are Founded in 1927, the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) is the largest professional association for club management professionals with 6, 800 members throughout the US and abroad. Our Professional members manage country, golf, city, athletic, faculty, yacht, town, and military clubs globally. CMAA has a strong local and student chapter network, including representation at more than 40 university and college campuses across the country.
Student Membership CMAA has more than 40 student chapters and colonies with more than 800 student members located around the world. Undergraduate and graduate students at two- or four-year accredited colleges and universities are eligible to apply for CMAA student membership. CMAA grants charters to student chapters at colleges and universities with four-year hospitality management programs.
Benefits of Membership At CMAA, we offer our student members many opportunities to get involved, enhance their education, and experience more about a fulfilling career in club management: – Two monthly Zoom calls with CMAA Professional Members: These calls are led by CMAA Professional Members on a club-related topic. Our professional members each have such unique stories. CMAA offers these call to student members where managers impart their experiences in the club management industry and answer any questions students have during the discussion. – One monthly Zoom call with CMAA Career and Life Coaches: CMAA has two incredible career and life coaches who are available to all CMAA members. They generate topics that focus on personal development that can assist student members’ successes in their professional/personal lives.
Benefits of Membership Club Foundation Scholarship Program – The Club Foundation awards $2, 500 to several outstanding students who demonstrate an interest in the club management profession each year through the Joe Perdue Scholarship. Benefits of Membership CMAA Website: CMAA’s official website contains information directly related to club management. An online membership directory, career information, and industry survey results are some site highlights. Check out more information about the student program on the CMAA website. CMAA Connect: A member-only social platform where students can engage with other student and professional members on various topics/discussions. CMAA University: An online platform where students can find club-related resources and archived Webinars and Zoom calls. Career Services: The Club. Careers website is a valuable resource that allows members to search for internships and jobs in all management levels, salary ranges, and/or club types that meet specified criteria.
Benefits of Membership CMAA World Conference & Club Business Expo: Student registration includes student-specific education, a student networking event, and multiple networking and mentorship offerings such as the Career Opportunities and Mentoring Showcase. The Career Opportunities and Mentoring Showcase is a networking and job fair specifically for students looking for internships and/or post-graduate positions, or simply an industry mentor. Students are also welcomed and encouraged to attend manager education sessions.
Benefits of Membership Club Management Magazine – The Association’s official publication provides members with in-depth information on issues and legislation affecting the private club industry, current and future trends in club management, and information about new products and services. Outlook – Twice monthly, all CMAA members receive the Outlook e-newsletter, which contains information on Association initiatives and events as well as updates members about upcoming educational opportunities.
Steps to Apply for CMAA Student Membership 1. Complete the online student membership application available on the CMAA Website. 2. You will receive an email to instruct you on how to pay your $25 membership fee. 3. Once processed, your membership card may be accessed virtually (via an app). You’ll also begin receiving CMAA correspondence and will gain access to the password protected areas of CMAA’s website.
Student to Alumnus Membership Once employed by a club, CMAA student members advance to professional membership status through application with their local senior chapter. The first step toward achieving the Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation starts when you become a professional member. Alumnus Membership – This category of membership is available to former CMAA student members who are making the transition to a professional in the club management industry. The Alumnus classification offers a dues break to eligible applicants (half the prevailing professional dues rate), for the first two years of CMAA membership.
