What is a Club? ¢ A club is an organisation set up for the benefit of its members, e. g. Golf Club, Rugby Club, GAA Club, Bridge Club, etc. ¢ Members elect officials (Chairperson, Secretary & Treasurer) to run the club at the AGM (Annual General Meeting)
What does the Chairperson do? Runs the club ¢ Chairs meetings ¢ Keeps order at meetings ¢ Follows the agenda ¢ Puts motions to a vote ¢
What does the Secretary do? Calls meetings ¢ Sends agenda to the members (the agenda is a list of topics to be discussed at the meeting) ¢ Arranges the meetings ¢ Takes note at the meetings of decisions and writes up the minutes (the minutes are a written record of what was discussed and decided at a meeting) ¢

What does the Treasurer do? Collect subscriptions (membership fees) ¢ Issue receipts for all money received ¢ Lodges money received to the club’s bank account ¢ Pay all the club’s bills ¢ Keep a record of all income and expenditure ¢ Prepare annual accounts and a financial report for the AGM ¢
