Cloud Service Models In the cloud computing , there are three basic layers that together create cloud environment. They are: Ø Iaa. S Ø Paa. S Ø Saa. S Paa. S Iaa. S Figure 1: Cloud Service Models Stack

Iaa. S v. Delivery of infrastructure as on-demand scalable service v. A cloud provider hosts the infrastructure components including servers, storage and networking hardware v. Iaa. S provider also supplies a range of services that include detailed billing, monitoring, log access, security, load balancing and clustering etc. üUsually billed based on usage üUsually multi tenant virtualized environment üCan be coupled with Managed Services for OS and application support

Paa. S v. Paa. S delivers computing platform for building and deploying web applications and services entirely from the Internet. v Paa. S simplifies workload deployment, but restricts a business's flexibility to create the environment that they want. üTypically applications must be developed with a particular platform in mind üMulti tenant environments üHighly scalable multi tier architecture

Saa. S v. A software delivery methodology that provides licensed multitenant access to software and its functions remotely as a Webbased service. v A Saa. S user does not need to install anything v A user simply logs in and uses the provider's application, which runs on the provider's infrastructure üUsually billed based on usage üUsually multi tenant environment üHighly scalable architecture

Reflection Spot – Think & Write Question: What is the difference between Saa. S and web application? Answer: Cloud app is the evolved web app. It's equally used to access online services over the Internet like web apps but not always exclusively dependent on web browsers to work. It's possible for a customizable, multi-tenancy cloud app to be solely available over the web browser from service providers, but quite often the web-interface is used as alternative access methods to the custom built cloud app for online services.

Saa. S Multi-Tenant Model § Level 1: Ad-Hoc/Custom – One Instance per customer § Level 2: Configurable per customer § Level 3: configurable & Multi. Tenant-Efficient § Level 4: Scalable, Configurable & Multi-Tenant-Efficient Figure 2: Saa. S Multi-tenant Model https: //lh 4. googleusercontent. com
