Claude Vignon, nascido em Tours, em 19 de maio de 1593, foi um pintor, gravador e ilustrador barroco francês. Ele começou sua formação em Tours. Em seguida, na oficina de Jacob Bunel, renomado pintor da segunda escola de “Fontainebleau”, onde aprendeu os conceitos básicos de artesanato e domínio das cores. Ele deixou seu mestre em 1609, com 16 anos e mudou-se para a Itália em 1610. Em 1616 foi recebido na guilda de pintores de Paris. A influência de Caravaggio é claramente identificável em seu trabalho, especialmente no início de sua carreira. Vignon pintou temas religiosos para as igrejas, mas também temas históricos: antigo, medieval e contemporâneo, para não mencionar temas mitológicos e retratos. Em 1648 tornou-se membro da “Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture”. Morreu em Paris, em 10 de maio de 1670.
