GOOD GRACIOUS HOP

Please give me a ride on your back!’ Said the Duck to the Kangaroo. ‘I would sit quite still, and say nothing but “Quack, ” The whole of the long day through! And we’d go to the Dee, and the Jelly Bo Lee, Over the land, and over the sea; — Please take me a ride! O do!’ Said the Duck to the Kangaroo.

Said the Kangarooto the Duck, ‘This requires somelittle reflection; Perhaps onthe wholeit might bringme luck, And thereseemsbut oneobjection, Whichis, if you’ll let mespeak sobold, Your feet areunpleasantly wetand cold, And wouldprobablygive methe roo. Matiz!’ said the Kangaroo.

Said the Kangaroo, I am ready! All in the moonlight pale, But to balance me well, dear duck, sit steady! And quite at the end of my tail! Soaway they went with a hop and a bound, And they hopped the whole world three times round; And who so happy, - O who, Asthe Duck and the Kangaroo?

Q. 1 Where did the Duck live and what did she long for? Ans. The Duck lived in a nasty pond. He was bored of his life. He wanted to leave that place and go out in the world beyond.

Q 3. What preparations did the Duck make for the ride on the Kangaroo’s back? Ans. He bought four pair of worsted socks so that his feat could remain dry and warm. He also bought an overcoat. He smoked a cigar daily to please the Kangaroo.
