SOCIAL CONTRACT “Speed Limit” – know what is expected, appropriate, and non-negotiable. What you give is what you get… Consequences usually involve warnings, detentions, or meeting with administration and parents.
TECHNOLOGY Are you using it to assist with classwork? If yes, ask Mr. V. Can we listen to music? � Only during independent work time and it gets setup and put away. Phones or devices that are distracting will be put away out of your reach.
RETAKES Have you completed the required activities/work for the Unit? Have you made test corrections (before/after school)? When re-taking an assessment, the assessment can be altered in format.
RESTROOM * IF EMERGENCY – GO RIGHT AWAY Is Mr. V teaching/instructing/giving directions? � Wait Are we viewing something or having class discussion? � Wait Is it independent work time? � Sign out and go Is it an emergency/sick? � Go immediately
BEGINNING OF CLASS As you enter get any necessary resources ready – notebook, pencil, chromebook, and any handouts Check schedule, complete bellringer, then check email. When class starts, be prepared and ready to listen and participate.
END OF CLASS Pack up when instructed to do so by me! I will try to give you at least 2 -3 minutes. Pick up any of your trash and take care of anything you borrowed. Push in your chairs when you leave.
CLASSROOM/GROUP DISCUSSION Be respectful of different perspectives – “I disagree” vs. “you are wrong”. Use appropriate tone and volume – one person speaks at a time, no interruptions Participate by listening and being engaged – stay on topic and use evidence. No attacks on someone’s personal beliefs or personal opinion Ask questions and respond to questions
IF YOU MISSED CLASS. Unexpected sickness/emergency – if you feel well enough and have internet, email a friend from class to stay up to date. If you missed notes… get from a friend If you missed an activity… complete ASAP If you missed an assessment… take it upon your return.
INDEPENDENT WORK TIME Use this time to ask for help and get assistance from me! Use time wisely in class. Students who fall behind will be assigned 7 th hour to stay caught up.
