The lessons in this book will be used to teach Latin stems and vocabulary. Students will use the new vocabulary learned from this book in their speaking and writing. Ask your child about the Latin stems and vocabulary from Latin they have learned. Encourage them to use the new vocabulary in their everyday talk with you and others. 4 th grade will focus on lessons 1 -4 and 5 th grade will focus on 11 -14.

Classroom Newsletter Quarter 2 Mrs. Doss and Mrs. Tuggle 5 th washama@gcsnc. com tuggleh@gcsnc. com Grade Math STOCK MARKET: Students are inheriting $50, 000 this quarter! During this unit, students will work to invest their money wisely using real-time stock prices. They will be responsible for updating their portfolio and determining their profit or loss based upon their shares. 4 th Grade Math PICTURE THIS: This unit invites students to think visually about mathematics. Students will create visual, numerical, and algebraic representations to connect their ideas. 4 th Grade ELA: HEROES: https: //www. gcsnc. com/domain/ 4491 1000 -10012! Students will continue their study of heroes this quarter. We will be begin to study the hero's journey, We will explore stories of mythical heroes to wrap up the unit we will study historical heroes such as George Washington and Malala Yousafzai. 5 th Grade ELA: FIGHTING DIGITAL FICTION / LET FREEDOM RING This unit is designed to empower our AG students to develop skills so that they may critically evaluate digital information which is essential for them to be successful during the 21 st century. Towards the end of the quarter students will begin a unit titled Let Freedom ring. This unit integrates literacy connections with social studies content. 2
