Part B Unit -1 Web Application Accessibility Options on Computer Accessibility options (or Ease of access options) are the settings done on computer so that computer OS can take input in different forms other that mouse and keyboard and provide output other than monitor or printed form, e. g. with voice.
Accessibility Options on Windows OS The accessibility options relate to various types of features such as: q. Visual display options Such as larger text or magnification or high contrast display (for visually impaired people). q. Text or Visual cues in place of sounds (For hearing impaired people) q. Speech commands or mouse or keyboard working options (For motor skills related problems or disabilities).
Common Accessibility features are : q. Narrator q. Audio descriptions q. Magnifier q. Speech recognition q. Sticky Keys q. Toggle Keys q. Filter Keys
Common Accessibility features are : q. Narrator : Narrator reads aloud on-screen text and describes some events (such as error messages appearing) that happen while you’re using the computer. q. Audio descriptions : Audio Descriptions describe what’s happening on screen with an audio output. q. Magnifier : Magnifier enlarges the part of the screen where the mouse is pointing and can be especially useful for viewing objects that are difficult to see.
Common Accessibility features are : q. Speech recognition : it means that now the computer will recognize input coming in the form of speech and you can also control the computer with your voice. q. Sticky Keys: ‘Sticky Keys’ means when a combination key like Ctrl or Shift etc. is pressed its effect will stick until you press the next key. That is instead of having to press three keys at once, you can use one key by turning on Sticky Keys and adjusting the settings.
Common Accessibility features are : q. Toggle Keys : Toggle keys can play an alert each time you press the Caps Lock, Num Lock or Scroll Lock keys. q. Filter Keys : The filter keys are used to ignore unintentional key strokes. With filter keys you can set windows to ignore keystorkes that occur in rapid succession, or keystrokes that are held down for several seconds unintentionally. THE END
