You are responsible for your textbook. It is new so no damage. I will assign seating and take your textbook number when I call your name.

Do not touch anything on my desk or write on the whiteboards without my permission. l You are required to have an agenda each and every day. Your agenda must be updated with all your assignments. I will give 1 point per day participation for your updated agenda. l Just like you learned in Kindergarten- respect each other and leave others alone.

Class Expectations l l l Be on time and ready to work each day. You will need to bring a pencil/pen, notebook, reading book/novel and agenda everyday. I give 3 points per day for: class conduct, updated agenda, and being prepared. If you are not ready- 0 points for that day. Have your homework out and ready to review before the start of class. If you were absent make sure to have any missed assignments out for grading. Check your agenda and homework calendar for your assignments. Keep yourself organized. You will need to have a book cover on your textbook by Friday September 7 th. Add that date to your agenda…. now.

Absolutely no bullying- this will be reported and will be punished. Bullying can be physical, spoken word, and hateful actions- so if I see or hear any inappropriate behavior, it will be reported. My job is to teach, so let me complete the course of instruction.

In preparation for the 11 th grade New York State Social US History and Government Regents examination, students will receive the necessary skills and knowledge of American history, which includes the following curriculum sequence:

l l l Method of Study Students will use a variety of learning styles in learning American History. Maps, timelines, charts, graphs, and various reading and writing activities will give students a strong foundation. In particular, there will be a heavy emphasis on writing throughout the year. Additionally, interdisciplinary projects with seventh grade ELA will enrich student understanding of the materials and ultimately enhance student achievement.

l l Homework is of the utmost importance to seventh grade Social Studies. It serves to reinforce the day’s lesson and to introduce topics of the following day. Homework will be given on a regular basis and is expected to be completed that night. Any late homework will receive half credit for the first day late and will not be accepted after the second day from the due date. Students are required to have a homework buddy in the event that he/she needs to find out about missing assignments/notes. I have a homework calendar so you can manage your time and be ready for class each day. Do not ask me what you missed when you were absent- check your homework calendar!!!! This will be the first item in your notebook.

Each student is expected to come to class prepared to work- pen or pencil each day- no exceptions All assigned work is expected to be completed by the due date There will be no food, drinks, or candy, allowed in class. If you chew gum- it goes in the trash when you are done. If not, no further gum chewing allowed. Only one person should be talking at a time and that would be me. Bookbags, cell phones, electronic devices and electronics (Ipods, etc. ) are not allowed in class

7 th Grade American History Projects l l l American History is a wonderful opportunity to view our Nation’s past. During this course we will explore five major eras: Beginnings of American History, Forming a New Nation, New Republic, Nation Expanding and Changes, and the Civil War. The special assignments will be a great opportunity for you to demonstrate your understanding of American history

l l l You will be assigned several projects during the school year and

l l l You will be assigned several projects during the school year and will be given handouts that will detail every aspect of the project. Deadlines are firm and late work will not be accepted for projects and major assignments. Take note---deadlines are firm and you need to work on your special projects, essay assignments, and all major requirements during the period that each are assigned. I will not take late work for assignments because I have given you an extended amount of time to complete.
