CLAIM EVIDENCE REASONING You can choose to write me a conclusion following the claim evidence reasoning format. OR You can make me a mini argument poster with question, claim, evidence, & justification. This should be your own INDIVIDUAL work
Look back at your initial prediction. CLAIM Does your data back up your prediction? • YES-Then it is your claim! • NO- Revise it!
EVIDENCE This is your graph Make sure that you have the following: Main title Axis titles (with units) Appropriate scale Data Key/Legend if needed
REASONING How do the trends in your data support your claim? • Example: I hypothesized that as carbon dioxide levels increase temperature increases, in my graph you can see that the experimental treatment (w/added CO 2) had a change in temperature of 15* where the control treatment (w/o added CO 2) had a temperature change of only 3* What is the scientific reason behind this? If it doesn’t make sense scientifically • Look in the text for this (pg 369) • Use the online resources linked on Mrs. Kemp’s webpage. • Explain what is correct scientifically • Then go over a possible error that may have caused your results
LESSON CHECK You will need: • Blank piece of paper • Writing utensil • Science notebook
