CKM 2006 Nagoya A Soni BNL HET Panel

CKM 2006 @ Nagoya A. Soni; BNL, HET (Panel Discussion on Super. B)

• If LHC finds SUSY, can you measure fundamental SUSY parameters, • as in the case of present B factories that are measuring fundamental • SM parameters ? If you can't, do you think observations of deviations from the SM are enough to justify • a Super B factory ?

$Working assumptions • Super. B Lumi >~ 8 X 10^35 • {projected SKEKB; higher$

Working assumptions • Super. B Lumi >~ 8 X 10^35 • {projected SKEKB; higher possibilty with LSBF…} -> 50 /ab -> 50 X 10^9 B’s • Not @ Ups 5 S • Current BFac ~0. 5 X 10^9 B’s …end of B-Fac ~2 X 10^9 • SBF/now ~ 100 • `Susy’ discovery @ LHC -> some new particles with masses several hundred Ge. Vs

Expectations from the Lattice • Improvemnts in formalism + anticipated improvements in computing power should allow calculations of decay constants, & form-factors and ratios of interest with considerable improved accuraccy <~ 5 years

Answers • SBF offers vast array of clean observables • I. Therefore unquestionably will extend the reach of the LHC in interpertation of its NP findings • II. Furthermore, should significantly improve our understanding of fundamental params of SM-CKM giving ample opportunities to witness its possible breakdown
