• First Mesopotamian civilization was Sumer (Around 3000 BC) – Religion and Government • Were polytheistic – Belief in many gods. – Humans were supposed to obey and serve the gods. – Gods and Goddesses owned the cities • Theocracy – A government by divine authority.
