New Electricity Connections and Township Development Energy and Electricity Department has units which have been created to support the application and provision of electricity applications by external clients. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Provision of new electricity supply as per customer applications up to 11 k. V, within the City of Tshwane Area of Supply. Electricity new connection process is guided and informed by the approved Tariff Document, Conditions of Supply, Bylaws, and other applicable regulations. Other applications includes for Meter Placement, Change Overs, Cut-in’s, Capacity Up/Downgrades and removal of service mains. Management of new Township Development applications and network installations. Scheme Amendment applications (Rezoning, Subdivision, Second Dwelling and Consolidations) and network installation for such applications. Applications for removal / relocation of the existing electrical network. 2
New Electricity Connection Process • The process to obtain a new electricity connection involve planning and processing of all electricity supply applications. The process starts with; • The submission of an electricity application to the department. • Compilation of a cost quotation • Acceptance of a quotation and payment of a connection by the client • Execution of work by the department. • Where necessary, the customer has to place a maximum demand box and ensure that the internal electrical works is completed. • Get the Certificate of Compliance (Co. C) for the internal electricial wiring. • Inspections of completed works and arranging switching-on by Co. T Electrical Inspector.
