City of Hallandale Beach 2013 Hurricane Season Emergency Planning and Preparations
Purpose • To provide a brief overview of the work performed to ensure the citizens of Hallandale Beach are prepared for emergencies.
Efforts Include • Maintaining Federal Compliance • Maintaining State & Local Collaboration ▫ ECC (Sub Committee Representation) ▫ RDSTF • Keeping the Community Informed ▫ Community Hurricane Forum ▫ Web Page , Radio and Local TV Channel • Keeping Staff Prepared ▫ ▫ Senior Staff Table Top Exercise Annual CEOP Review Mandatory Employee meetings Emergency Management Planning Committee (EMPC)
NIMS Compliance • National Incident Management System (NIMS) ▫ Based upon a Presidential Directive. ▫ Required to maintain Grant eligibility. • Very Pragmatic and successful approach to Organizational management. • All employees have some role and are required to complete basic coursework.
State and County Collaboration • Emergency Coordinating Council (ECC) an advisory board established in accordance with FSS ▫ Each Municipality has a voting member ▫ Comprised of Several EM Working Groups ▫ BEMA
