Supporting a vibrant culture of teaching and learning at UC Santa Cruz Created in 2016 to both honor and renew the university’s longstanding tradition of outstanding teaching and bold educational experimentation, CITL supports all who teach at UC Santa Cruz to create effective and inclusive learning environments with the tools available to us now. These tools include: • a primary commitment to equity and accessibility so that every student can thrive; • teaching practices based in the most innovative research on effective teaching and learning in higher education; • and a wide range of educational technologies that can enhance student learning in the classroom and beyond.

Questions for Discussion 1. How can CITL best support the work that the HHMI grants have been doing, going forward? How can we best support your work and also teach others to teach in Active Learning classrooms? 2. How can CITL best support STEM courses and in particular gateway courses that cannot be taught in Active Learning Classrooms?
