Working with code on biglab • Why are we forcing you to use biglab? • uniform environment, automatic backups, Linux is good for you • Ways to edit your code 1. work directly on biglab • Learn a Unix text editor: vim/emacs/nano 2. Use (graphical) Linux machines in K Lab, Moore 100, Towne • use the same filesystem as biglab 3. Run an X server on your local Windows/Mac machine • allows graphical applications to run over the network • often a bit slow 4. edit locally, sync files to biglab for Vivado • use whatever Win/Mac/Linux editor you want • rsync/scp/git push/dropbox them to biglab 5. install Vivado Web. PACK yourself (free!) CIS 371: Comp. Org. | Dr. Joe Devietti | Hardware Description 3
