The term means ‘recitation’. The Qur’an is believed to be the word of Allah transmitted through the prophet Muhammad 1400 years ago. The Tawrat The Torah, also sacred to Jews. This book is mentioned eighteen times in the Qur’an as true revelation that preceded the Gospels and the Qur’an. The Sahifah This holy scripture is sacred to Shi’a Muslims only. It is attributed to the fourth Imam and has been given many titles, such as `Sister of the Qur'an', `Gospel of the Folk of the House', and `Psalms of the Household of Muhammad'.
