The people and the ecosystem 2004 2008 2009 2012 Kripa Varanasi receives Ph. D (Mech. E. ) from MIT. Kripa joins MIT faculty after working for GE Global Research. Dave Smith starts his Ph. D in Kripa’s lab: Funding from NSF, DOD. Dave and team participate in i. Teams (Engineering + Business students class). Dave and team participate in the MIT Venture Mentoring Service. “Audience choice” award ($2 K) at MIT $100 K Entrepreneurial contest: Ketchup bottle video goes viral on You. Tube. 2013 Liqui.
