Christmas has arrived! Reception Class News Christmas has officially arrived at Broken Cross this

Christmas has arrived! Reception Class News Christmas has officially arrived at Broken Cross this week! All of the decorations are up and everywhere is feeling very festive. We were even able to wear our Christmas jumpers on Friday!! We really hope you have enjoyed our snowman song on the school advent calendar. We had a new arrival to our class this week. He is small and red and can get up to mischief!! It’s our elf called Baubles! To begin with he hid our decorations, but we found him and he has started to be kind and very helpful now. On Thursday he helped us to practise forming our letters correctly! 4 th December 2020 Christmas Stories This week we have been listening to lots of Christmas stories in the classroom. Some of the stories have been read by Mrs Beaden and Mrs Banwell and some of the stories have been read by some of the other teachers via a TEAM’s meeting across the whole school. Mrs Lewis and Mrs Jones have even read us a story!! We have really enjoyed all the stories and they have got us in the Christmas spirit!! We have heard all about elves and reindeer, Gruffalos and even slugs!! All the stories have had a Christmas theme. Maths This week in Maths we have been practising our counting. We have been singing counting songs and counting various objects moving them or using our finger to point at them as we count so we don’t make any mistakes. We have been trying not to rush our counting, so we don’t miss out any numbers! Phonics We have continued to learn some new diagraphs this week! igh ar or ur ow We continue to practice our tricky words and some of our high frequency words. By the end of next week, we will have practiced all of the sounds that we need to know for Phase 3 in Reception!! Next week • • We will start looking at The Christmas Story Next week in Phonics we will be learning 5 new sounds - oi, ear, air, ure, er Next week in Maths we will be continuing to consolidate all of the Maths we have been learning about over the past term!!!
