Headlines • Reducing undiagnosed Chlamydia remains a key Public Health Outcome Framework indicator across the UK • The detection rate indicator (DRI) required to reduce the incidence of infection is 2, 300 cases per 100, 000 population annually. • In 2014 DRI in TH was 1877 – 19/33 Local Authorities in London – 127/326 LA in England • Whilst improvement has been made, locally we remain some way from the DRI

How are we driving improvement? • Increasing accessibility to testing: – Self sampling available across range of settings including >40 Community Pharmacies – Increase in targeted campaigns promoting testing to 15 -24 year olds • Preventing spread and re-infection: – Focused efforts to improve partner treatment and testing • PN outcome rate in GUM, pharmacy & CASH = 1. 05 achieved (vs. 0. 6 BASHH/NCSP standard) – Improving retest rates among those diagnosed with infection at 3 months (currently 35%; includes GP)

What do we want from General Practice? • Follow EMIS prompt and offer annual

What do we want from General Practice? • Follow EMIS prompt and offer annual screen to any 1524 year olds accessing practice – 20 -24 year olds & MSM in Tower Hamlets have higher rates of infection than national average • Continue to treat and initiate partner notification for any patients diagnosed – 41% of people attending as contacts of infection locally tested positive for Chlamydia • Ensure all patients diagnosed with Chlamydia are offered a retest after 3 months – 7% of patients test positive at this time – Inform patients of this when you treat them
