Goals For Suicide Prevention • Increase community awareness that suicide is a preventable public health problem • Increase awareness that depression is a primary cause of suicide • Change public perception about the stigma of mental illness, especially about depression and suicide • Increase the ability of the public to recognize and intervene when someone they know is suicidal • Save lives and increase help seeking behavior
