Survivor Story. March 1944 the Germans opposed a round-up. They caught Szymon Srebrnik while he was on a street car. He was loaded inside and driven off. Upon that he met some other jews and some of there names were Zydenfeld, Berek, Modownik, Kalmuszewicz, Huskiel. He could not recall anymore names. They took him to Chelmno grounds and in a hour divided all of them into groups. They were than assigned work. The stronger ones went into the woods. And the not so fit weaker ones , nobody knows what happened to them. After the first day he was assigned shackles. They made it hard to walk and painful. Nobody knows how he did it. But for the years he was there he managed to survive.
Liberations of camp chelmno. At Chelmno death camp, there was really no freedom. Most of them died unless they were good workers. The most freedom they had was maybe a break once in a while. They didn’t even have the privilege to get a good night of sleep. They all were smashed together and uncomfortable. They didn’t have good food either. They got the scraps. All together for the hard work they did, they got no freedom.
