Today’s Parsha • May 14, 2011 Behar ("On mount Sinai"): • Leviticus 25: 1 -26: 2 • Jeremiah 32: 6 -27 • Luke 21 -22 • • We’ll read… Leviticus 25: 39 -end of chapter Jeremiah 32: 6 -27 Luke 22: 47 -62
Leviticus 25: 39 -end of chapter • 39 "'If a member of your people has become poor among you and sells himself to you, do not make him do the work of a slave. 40 Rather, you are to treat him like an employee or a tenant; he will work for you until the year of yovel. 41 Then he will leave you, he and his children with him, and return to his own family and regain possession of his ancestral land. 42 For they are my slaves, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; therefore they are not to be sold as slaves.
Leviticus 25: 39 -end of chapter • 43 Do not treat him harshly, but fear your God. 44 "'Concerning the men and women you may have as slaves: you are to buy men- and women-slaves from the nations surrounding you. 45 You may also buy the children of foreigners living with you and members of their families born in your land; you may own these.
Leviticus 25: 39 -end of chapter • 46 You may also bequeath them to your children to own; from these groups you may take your slaves forever. But as far as your brothers the people of Isra'el are concerned, you are not to treat each other harshly. 47 "'If a foreigner living with you has grown rich, and a member of your people has become poor and sells himself to this foreigner living with you or to a member of the foreigner's family,
Leviticus 25: 39 -end of chapter • 48 he may be redeemed after he has been sold. One of his brothers may redeem him; 49 or his uncle's son may redeem him; or any near relative of his may redeem him; or, if he becomes rich, he may redeem himself.
Leviticus 25: 39 -end of chapter • 50 He will calculate with the person who bought him the time from the year he sold himself to him to the year of yovel; and the amount to be paid will be according to the number of years and his time at an employee's wage.
Leviticus 25: 39 -end of chapter • 51 If many years remain, according to them will he refund the amount for his redemption from the amount he was bought for. 52 If there remain only a few years until the year of yovel, then he will calculate with him; according to his years will he refund the amount for his redemption.
Leviticus 25: 39 -end of chapter • 53 He will be like a worker hired year by year. You will see to it that he is not treated harshly. 54 "'If he has not been redeemed by any of these procedures, nevertheless he will go free in the year of yovel -he and his children with him. 55 For to me the people of Isra'el are slaves; they are my slaves whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; I am ADONAI your God. END (Baruch Ha. Shem)
Jeremiah 32: 6 -27 • 6 Yirmeyahu (Means…Exalted of the Lord) said, "This word of ADONAI came to me: 7 'Hanam'el (Means…God is gracious) , the son of your uncle Shalum (Form of Shalom “peace”), will approach you and say, "Buy my field at 'Anatot (town north east of Jerusalem, a town of priests the name means “poor”); you have next-of-kin's right to redeem it; so buy it. "'"
Jeremiah 32: 6 -27 • 8 AS ADONAI had said, my cousin Hanam'el came to me in the guards' quarters and said, "Please buy my field at 'Anatot, in the territory of Binyamin (Binyamin means Son of my right hand. Smol is left, yamine is right) ; because you will inherit it, and you have next-of-kin's right to redeem it, so buy it for yourself. " Then I was certain that this was ADONAI's word. 9 So I bought the field at 'Anatot which belonged to my cousin Hanam'el and weighed out the money for him, seven ounces of silver shekels.
Jeremiah 32: 6 -27 • 10 I signed on the purchase contract, sealed it, called witnesses and weighed out the money for him on a balance scale. 11 I took the purchase contract, both the sealed copy with the terms and conditions, and the unsealed copy, 12 and gave the purchase contract to Barukh (Blessed) the son of Neriyah (The Lord is my Lamp) , the son of Machseyah (The works/creations of God) , in the presence of my cousin Hanam'el, the witnesses who had signed the purchase contract and the people from Y'hudah (Judah) sitting by the guards' quarters.
Jeremiah 32: 6 -27 • 13 In their presence I instructed Barukh as follows: 14 "Here is what ADONAI-Tzva'ot (G-d of Hosts), the God of Isra'el, says: 'Take these contracts, both the sealed and unsealed copies, and place them in a clay jar, so that they can be preserved for a long time. ' 15 For ADONAI-Tzva'ot, the God of Isra'el, says that one day homes, fields and vineyards will again be bought in this land. "
Jeremiah 32: 6 -27 • 16 After giving the purchase contract to Barukh son of Neriyah, I prayed to ADONAI: 17 "ADONAI, God! You made heaven and earth by your great power and outstretched arm; nothing is too hard for you. 18 You display your grace to thousands but also repay the guilt of the fathers into the lap of their children who follow them. Great, powerful God, whose name is ADONAI-Tzva'ot,
Jeremiah 32: 6 -27 • 19 great in counsel, mighty in deed! Your eyes are open to all the ways of human beings in order to repay each one according to his ways, according to the consequences of what he does. 20 You gave signs and performed miracles in the land of Egypt which continue to this day, also in Isra'el and among other people; thus you made yourself the reputation you have today.
Jeremiah 32: 6 -27 • 21 You brought your people of Isra'el out of the land of Egypt with signs and miracles, with a strong hand an outstretched arm and with great terror. 22 Then you gave them this land, which you had sworn to their ancestors that you would give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.
Jeremiah 32: 6 -27 • 23 They entered and took possession of it; but they did not pay attention to your voice, did not live according to your Torah, and did nothing of all you ordered them to do. Therefore you made this complete disaster befall them -
Jeremiah 32: 6 -27 • 24 the siege-works are already there; they have come to the city to capture it; and the city, by means of sword, famine and plague, is being handed over to the Kasdim Chaldeans fighting against it. What you foretold is being fulfilled; here, you see it, yourself.
Jeremiah 32: 6 -27 • 25 Yet you, ADONAI, God, have said to me, 'Buy the field for money, and call witnesses; even as the city is being turned over to the Kasdim!'" 26 Then this word of ADONAI came to Yirmeyahu: 27 "Look, I am ADONAI, the God of every living creature; is there anything too hard for me? • END (Baruch Ha. Shem)
Luke 22: 47 -62 • 47 While he was still speaking, a crowd of people arrived, with the man called Y'hudah (one of the Twelve!) leading them. He came up to Yeshua to kiss him, 48 but Yeshua said to him, "Y'hudah, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss? "
Luke 22: 47 -62 • 49 When his followers saw what was going to happen, they said, "Lord, should we use our swords? " 50 One of them struck at the slave of the cohen hagadol and cut off his right ear. 51 But Yeshua answered, "Just let me do this, " and, touching the man's ear, he healed him.
Luke 22: 47 -62 • 52 Then Yeshua said to the head cohanim, the officers of the Temple guard and the elders who had come to seize him, "So you came out just as you would to the leader of a rebellion, with swords and clubs? 53 Every day I was there with you in the Temple court, yet you didn't arrest me. But this is your hour -- the hour when darkness rules. "
Luke 22: 47 -62 • 54 Having seized him, they led him away and brought him into the house of the cohen hagadol. Kefa followed at a distance; 55 but when they had lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Kefa joined them.
Luke 22: 47 -62 • 56 One of the servant girls saw him sitting in the light of the fire, stared at him and said, "This man also was with him. " 57 But he denied it: "Lady, I don't even know him. " 58 A little later, someone else saw him and said, "You're one of them too"; but Kefa said, "Man, I am not!"
Luke 22: 47 -62 • 59 About an hour later, another man asserted emphatically, "There can be no doubt that this fellow was with him, because he too is from the Galil!" 60 But Kefa said, "Man, I don't know what you're talking about!" And instantly, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
Luke 22: 47 -62 • 61 The Lord turned and looked straight at Kefa; and Kefa remembered what the Lord had said, "Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times. " 62 And he went outside and cried bitterly.

Rebbe’s Parsha • Let’s talk a little about the cutting off of the ear of the servant in our Parsha in Luke. • The servant's name was Malchus
Rebbe’s Parsha • One writer puts it this way… • “According to John, one of the disciples, the Apostle Peter, being armed with a sword, cut off the servant's ear in an attempt to prevent his Master's arrest. ”
Rebbe’s Parsha • Another commentator writes… “Peter seemed to always be on the wrong wavelength in understanding Christ and his mission. ”
Rebbe’s Parsha • These are unwarranted attacks on Peter. • Peter is often times portrayed as rash and not a very good aim, like he was trying to cut off this mans head and missed. • He wasn’t actually trying to kill this servant.
Rebbe’s Parsha • This isn’t really what was going on here. • Peter was making sure that Malchus could never be high priest so he did something that someone before him had done. He cut of his right earlobe.
Rebbe’s Parsha • Josephus tells us that Hyrcanus had been maimed by Aristobulus in the same way a generation before. • So Peter knew what he was doing, he was an expert swordsmen.
Today’s Joke • An Israeli landed at Heathrow Airport in London, at passport control the officer asked him, “occupation? ” and the Israeli answered,
Today’s Joke • “No!!! I’m just here for a visit. ”
Demonology • • Today we’re going to look at the kingdom of Satan and how his hierarchy is set up. By understanding this we’ll understand how demons rank in his empire. This is a real park in Connecticut
Demonology • • Satan has always been an imitator, he can not create. But, we shouldn’t mistake this for lack of intelligence.
Demonology • • He can imitate better then any human and much of what he does can appear created to us simple humans. Much of what we perceive as invention, to him, is only a series of educated guesses.
Demonology • That being said, since he allowed pride to take him over when he was the covering Cherub (Cherubim) he has relentlessly tried to take the place of G-d.
Demonology • • Likewise he has set up his kingdom to mirror G-d’s Kingdom. Early on he constructed his domain based on the only realm he’d ever known.
Demonology • • Since we know this we can begin to understand his method of order. “Now wait a second? I thought Satan’s Kingdom was chaos? ”
Demonology • • No, Satan does cause chaos at times but he maintains order, allegiance and obedience from his hosts. There is method when it comes to The Adversary…
Demonology • • • Eph. 6 says this… 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Let’s look at the word “wiles” in Greek
Demonology Stand against the methods of the Diabolic One
Demonology • • Satan knows what he’s doing and so do his minions. He and the Evil Spirits with him will even, at times, promote good.
Demonology • • • That is provided that good will result in a larger evil (ie. The Mormon Church). II Cor 11 says Satan becomes an angel of light, not that he becomes AS an angel of light.
Demonology • • • And no marvel; for Satan himself becomes an angel of light. I know the NIV and others say “masquerades” or “disguises” as an angel of light and so forth. However, no such word exists in the Greek texts of this passage.
Demonology • • This passage tells us this for a reason… It tells us so we can understand just how deceived Satan really is.
Demonology • • The Devil can and does do good. He is indeed the Diabolical One.
Demonology • • • So what does his kingdom look like, how is it set up? It is a militaristic society! We read in Daniel 11: 38 But in his estate shall he honour the god of forces and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
Demonology • • Who is this god of forces? It isn't just a demon… it’s Satan himself. What does it mean by a “god of forces”?
Demonology • The word there in Hebrew is Maozim (maw-oh-zeem). When we say “Maoz” (forces) in Hebrew we’re talking about the military (literally means stronghold).
Demonology • Just as there are different ranks of G-d’s angels likewise there are different ranks of evil spirits.
Demonology • • There is a power hierarchy and institutions of government for the execution of specific tasks. This government has it’s own type of CIA (I’m referencing the CIA as an example).
Demonology • • The evil spirits of this sector collect information on individuals. The information is then used to exploit people’s weaknesses, passions and evil desires.
Demonology • These CIA type evil spirits are fundamentally messengers, reporting back to their superiors then returning to the human they’re assigned to.
Demonology • • Just as Satan they have to go to and fro because they are not omnipresent (they can’t be everywhere at once). Job 1: 6…
Demonology • • 6 One day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them. 7 The LORD said to Satan, “Where have you come from? ” Satan answered the LORD, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it. ”
Demonology • • • Demons and Satan can’t be everywhere at once. So these demons report. They can’t harm us unless we allow them to by the choices we make.
Demonology • • • As Believers, we have a hedge of protection around us. Job 1: 9 says, 9 “Does Job fear God for nothing? ” Satan replied. 10 “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household. Can that hedge be removed? Yep, it sure was with Job.
Demonology • • It’s an odd case with Job, he hadn’t made any poor choices. But if we make poor choices (sin, sometimes ignorance etc) that hedge can be weakened and even removed depending.
Demonology • • Christians often confuse this hedge and think it a hedge of Salvation. It isn’t. It’s a hedge of protection.
Demonology • There are more powerful demons (then these CIA types) who are assigned to earthly governments/regions.
Demonology • Satan has correctly concluded that one of the best ways to influence the human masses is through their leaders.
Demonology • • These evil spirits are “Commando type” forces. Stealth and of higher intelligence then most (but not all) other evil spirits.
Demonology • • • These were once arch angels in heaven before they fell. Gog is one of these arch angels… Ez. 38: 1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshek and Tubal; prophesy against him 3 and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshek and Tubal.
Demonology • • • How do we know that this Gog isn’t a human? 1. He’s called a Chief Prince. You’ll only find this term in one other passage in all the Bible…
Demonology • • • Daniel 10: 10… 10 A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. 11 He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you. ” And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling. 12 Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. 13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. 14 Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come. ”
Demonology • • Secondly, we see Gog not only at the beginning of the millennium but also at the end of the 1, 000 reign. Rev 20: 7 7 When the thousand years are over, the Adversary will be set free from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for the battle. Their number is countless as the sand on the seashore;
Demonology • • Michael is an archangel! Gog is an arch-evil spirit in charge of the government of Turkey and that region which also includes…
Demonology • • …ancient Assyria. Meshek is identified by Josephus as Cappadocia.
Demonology • • We talked last week about the zeriym (foreign gods). Gog is a chief of the zeriym. Dan 11 39 He will deal with the strongest fortresses with the help of a foreign god. He will confer honor on those he acknowledges, causing them to rule over many and distributing land as a reward. CJB
Demonology • • We see Yeshua speaking to evil spirits in the New Testament from time to time. I said last week that I believed there were myriads of demons out there.
Demonology • • • In one man there were approx 6, 000 demons. The demon’s name was Legion. A legion is comprised of about 6 thousand that was just in one man.
Demonology • • Rev 9: 16 speaks of an additional 200 million that have been locked up till the End Days. We’ll be looking at that passage shortly
Demonology • • Another minor point just looking at it rationally, in order for Lucifer to attempt a rebellion… He must have had a large following behind him.
Demonology • • So as in the case of Legion, we see Yeshua speaking to evil spirits. In fact every writer of the New Testament talks about demons with the exception of the author of Hebrews (and even he writes about Satan).
Demonology • • Mathew, Mark, Luke and John all speak of demons. Paul of course does as well, so does James (2: 19, 3: 15) Peter (II Peter 2: 4) and even Jude (Jude 6).
Demonology • • So they obviously believed in their existence. They don’t speak of them as androids (no personality) either…
Demonology • • We know of at least three attributes of personality in demons. These three attributes are intellect, emotion, and limited will.
Demonology • • First, do demons have intellect? Yes, and this is evident in different ways: first, demons know who Yeshua is. Mk. 1: 24…
Demonology • They entered K'far-Nachum, and on Shabbat Yeshua went into the synagogue and began teaching. 22 They were amazed at the way he taught, for he did not instruct them like the Torah-teachers but as one who had authority himself. 23 In their synagogue just then was a man with an unclean spirit in him, who shouted, 24 "What do you want with us, Yeshua from Natzeret? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are -- the Holy One of God!"
Demonology • • second, demons know their own future doom Mt. 8: 28 -29 28 When Yeshua arrived at the other side of the lake, in the Gadarenes' territory, there came out of the burial caves two men controlled by demons, so violent that no one dared travel on that road. 29 They screamed, "What do you want with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time? "
Demonology • • • third, demons know that God is One James 2: 19 19 You believe that "God is one"? Good for you! The demons believe it too - the thought makes them shudder with fear!
Demonology • • • fourth, demons have a counterfeit system of doctrine I Tim. 4: 1 1 The Spirit expressly states that in the acharithayamim some people will apostatize from the faith by paying attention to deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
Demonology • fifth demons have the ability to communicate by speech (Lk. 4: 34, 35, 41; 8: 28 -31).
Demonology • • Demons also have emotions… this can be seen in two ways: first, they have the emotion of fierceness and anger (Mt. 8: 28); and, second, they have the emotion of fear (Mt. 8: 29; Ja. 2: 19).
Demonology • • Demons also have a limited will. This can be seen in 2 ways: first, they have the will to make requests (Mt. 8: 31; Lk. 8: 32);
Demonology • • and, second, they have the will to leave a person, seek a new place to live, or return to the place where they formerly lived (Mt. 12: 43 -45). 43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44 Then he saith , I will return into my house from whence I came out ; and when he is come , he findeth it empty , swept , and garnished. 45 Then goeth he , and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
Demonology • There is one other way in which we can know that demons have personality: • When the New Testament speaks of demons, it uses the personal pronoun.
Demonology • It never refers to a demon as an it, which would be fitting if demons were mere emanations. Instead, the text uses the pronouns we, us, they, your, I, and me to refer to demons.
Demonology • • • Names: Legion was one name of a demon and most teach that John names another of these evil spirits. A very powerful “demon” according to them named Abaddon.
Demonology They say this demon, Abaddon (The word means “destroyer/destruction”). is in charge of the Abyss. • I understand why they (commentators) think this, but it’s incorrect. • Fictitious picture of Abaddon
Demonology • • “Abaddon” can actually mean 3 different things. It can be the name of a person/spirit or the name of a place (i. e. hell) or it can simply mean “destruction” depending on it’s context.
Demonology • • • We’ll look at some Scriptural examples of a place first. Job 31: 12 CJB 9 "If my heart has been enticed toward a woman, and I have lain in wait at my neighbor's door; 10 then let my wife grind for another man, and let others kneel on her. 11 For that would be a heinous act, a criminal offense, 12 a fire that would burn to the depths of Abaddon, uprooting all I produce.
Demonology • • Psalms 88 CJB 10 Will you perform wonders for the dead? Can the ghosts (spirits) of the dead rise up and praise you? (Selah) 11 Will your grace be declared in the grave, or your faithfulness in Abaddon?
Demonology • Let’s read the passage about it and I’ll do a verse by verse commentary… Rev 9 • 1 The fifth angel (angel means messenger, even Yeshua is a messenger… Mark 1: 35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Yeshua got up, left, went away to a lonely spot and stayed there praying. 36 But Shim`on and those with him went after him; 37 and when they found him, they said, "Everybody is looking for you. "
Demonology • • • 38 He answered, "Let's go somewhere else -- to the other villages around here. I have to proclaim the message there too -- in fact this is why I came out. “) sounded his shofar (This is concerning the End Days); and I saw a star that had fallen out of heaven onto the earth, and he was given the key to the shaft leading down to the Abyss (notice not the key to the abyss, but to the shaft leading TO the abyss). Star! What did we learn about stars? They’re ALWAYS…?
Demonology • 2 He opened the shaft of the Abyss (this human was given power to open this shaft), and there went up smoke from the shaft like the smoke of a huge furnace; the sun was darkened, and the sky too, by the smoke from the shaft. 3 Then out of the smoke onto the earth came locusts (a term used to mean evil spirits), and they were given power like the power scorpions have on earth.
Demonology • 4 They were instructed not to harm the grass on the earth, any green plant or any tree, but only the people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads (so we see here, the Saved are still here at this point). 5 The locusts were not allowed to kill them, only to inflict pain on them for five months; and the pain they caused was like the pain of a scorpion sting.
Demonology • 6 In those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them. 7 Now these locusts looked like horses outfitted for battle. On their heads were what looked like crowns of gold (these fallen demons were once angels who stood in the presence of G-d), and their faces were like human faces.
Demonology • 8 They had hair like women's hair (not long hair), and their teeth were like those of lions. 9 Their chests were like iron breastplates, and the sound their wings made (it says in Greek the “sound these flyers made”, not “sound their wings made” wings was a word the English translators inserted because they believed angels had wings) was like the roar of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.
Demonology • • So what kind of sound is it talking about. 2 possibilities… One, they move so fast that it sounds like the wind cracking as something moves quickly through it or… Two just the sounds of their screams or war calls.
Demonology • 10 They had tails like those of scorpions, with stings; and in their tails was their power to hurt people for five months. 11 They had as king over them the angel (messenger) of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is "Abaddon" and in our language, "Destroyer (or Destruction). " 12 The first woe has passed, but there are still two woes to come.
Demonology • 13 The sixth angel sounded his shofar, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the gold altar before God, 14 saying to the sixth angel, the one with the shofar, "Release the four angels (messengers, in this case evil spirits) that are bound at the great river Euphrates!" 15 And they were released. These four angels had been kept ready for this moment, for this day and month and year, to kill a third of mankind;
Demonology • 16 and the number of cavalry soldiers was two hundred million! - I heard the number. 17 Here is how the horses looked in the vision: the riders had breastplates that were fire-red, irisblue and sulfur-yellow; the horses' heads were like lions' heads; and from their mouths issued fire, smoke and sulfur.
Demonology • 18 It was these three plagues that killed a third of mankind - the fire, smoke and sulfur issuing from the horses' mouths. 19 For the power of the horses was in their mouths - and also in their tails, for their tails were like snakes (seraphim in Hebrew), with heads, and with them they could cause injury.
Demonology • • Sometimes in demonology we have to look for clues in Scripture. There’s not a lot of detailed information always… I believe this passage is one of these clues concerning what kind of evil spirits are being talked about here.
Demonology • It’s not enough for me to stake my reputation on it, but I do believe it because it fits with proper hermeneutics concerning this topic and with an overall understanding of how things work in Satan’s kingdom.
Demonology • • So, I believe this passage is telling us what kind of demons these are… Seraphim. The Seraphim were more powerful then the average demons but not as powerful as the Cherubim
Demonology • 20 The rest of mankind, those who were not killed by these plagues, even then did not turn from what they had made with their own hands - they did not stop worshipping demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk (remember we talked last week that not all idols are actually demons, people can simply make them up). 21 Nor did they turn from their murdering (leshediym ie child sacrifice), their involvement with the occult and with drugs, their sexual immorality (toe‘eebat) or their stealing.
Demonology • • So let’s walk through this passage again. The star that fell was a Believer who turned his back on G-d, an apostate who listened to the doctrines of the leshidim.
Demonology • • This human who was given the key to the shaft that leads to the Abyss is the Anti-Christ. You can see what can happen if one misunderstands Jewish symbolism and confuses humans (stars) with demons
Demonology • • These demons which are released are very powerful, that’s why they’ve been locked up till that very hour. In my opinion, they are fallen Seraphim (Seraphim means snake)
Demonology • • They kill a third of the unbelievers and yet the remaining unbelievers still continue to worship false idols. It’s logical to suppose many of them don’t realize they’re even worshipping demons.
Demonology • • If you asked the typical unbeliever today if they worship demons, they’d say no. On closer examination you’d find they actually do.
Demonology • They commit acts of abortion or celebrate the festivals of Ishtar or commit acts of homosexuality or adultery and immorality etc.
Demonology • Likewise in the Last Days most won’t think they’re doing anything wrong, thus the word “deception”!!!
Demonology • The line between ignorance and deception is when they have a moment of clarity and then think, “Nah”… and that’s when deception then takes root.
Demonology • • Abaddon is Satan, not a demon… We read in Rev 9: 11 They had as King over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is "Abaddon" and in our language, "Destroyer. " Notice it says “King”. Only Satan is King of the Evil Spirits. He allows Chief Princes, Messengers etc. , but only he is King.
Demonology • • Who are the 4 messengers bound in the Euphrates? I believe they’re fallen Cherubim. These are the most powerful of the Evil Spirits.
Demonology • • • How powerful are these spirits? They could crush planets/moons. Now before we get into this, I’ll be challenging some very basic Christian beliefs.
Demonology • • I don’t believe that G-d created the world in Gen 1. Isaiah 45: 18 clearly says “For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens, who is God, who formed the earth and made it, who has established it, who did not create it without FORM, who formed it to be inhabited: ‘I am the LORD, and there is no other. ’” (NKJ) Is this a contradiction of Gen 1? No…
Demonology • • Genesis 1: 2 is mistranslated in most English translations – only the Rotherham Emphasized Bible is close to the Hebrew… Genesis 1: 2 The earth BECAME without FORM, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Demonology • • What does that mean it “became without form”? It means it wasn’t always that way. Yes in 6 literal days G-d brought the universe back as the first step to it’s eventual restoration (Tikkun Olam).
Demonology • Understanding this also explains why the whole world wasn’t a garden of Eden when Adam and Eve were kicked out.
Demonology • • • There would’ve been no such thing as a garden. The whole world would’ve been a garden. If Gen 1 was the first time around, it would’ve been a perfect world!
Demonology • G-d creates perfect things. The stars were perfect, the planets were perfect, there was no chaos.
Demonology • • • Then Lucifer fell. And he didn’t go without a fight. When there are wars in the spiritual, it affects the material… and planets, moons, stars even entire star systems were destroyed in this war. This picture is wrong on so many levels!!!
Demonology • • • Ask any astronomer what the rings are around Saturn and they’ll tell you… They used to be moons that were crushed and destroyed. (BTW there also rings around Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune)
Demonology • • • Stars were also destroyed and some became super nova and black holes. This is the death of a star. G-d did not create them that way.
Demonology • Chaos came into the universe when Satan fell and he and his demons destroyed as much as they could.
Demonology • After the more powerful evil spirits were bound, G-d then began to recreate and that’s where Gen 1 begins.
Demonology • • • Back to the Cherubim Many believe that there are only a few Cherubim. The two over the ark of the covenant (representing a heavenly reality) and Lucifer, the covering Cherub. NOT a good representation of the Cherubim
Demonology • • They forget however that it says in Gen 3 24 So he drove the man out, and he placed at the east of the garden of 'Eden the k'ruvim and a flaming sword which turned in every direction to guard the way to the tree of life. Cherubim is plural, so at least 2 more were there. We also see in the temple many carvings (I Kings 6) of Cherubim which in the Hebrew reading leads us to believe there were many of them.
Demonology • • We also see other Cherubim embroidered into the curtain of the Temple II Chron. 3: 14 He made the curtain of blue, purple and crimson material and of fine linen, with a design of k'ruvim worked into it. Why would these Cherubim be bound in water (The Euphrates)? The ancient Rabbis have some ideas that may shed some light on that.
Demonology • • We’ll examine that next week. Shabbat Shalom
