Exodus 11 Whole Chapter • 2 speak, I pray thee, in the ears of the people, and they ask -- each man from his neighbour, and each woman from her neighbour, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold. ' • 3 And Jehovah giveth the grace of the people in the eyes of the Egyptians; also the man Moses is very great in the land of Egypt, in the eyes of the servants of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of the people.
Exodus 11 Whole Chapter • 4 And Moses saith, 'Thus said Jehovah, About midnight I am going out into the midst of Egypt, • 5 and every first-born in the land of Egypt hath died, from the first-born of Pharaoh who is sitting on his throne, unto the first-born of the maid-servant who is behind the millstones, and all the first-born of beasts; • 6 and there hath been a great cry in all the land of Egypt, such as there hath not been, and such as there is not again.
Exodus 11 Whole Chapter • 7 'And against all the sons of Israel a dog sharpeneth not its tongue, from man even unto beast, so that ye know that Jehovah doth make a separation between the Egyptians and Israel; • 8 and all these thy servants have come down unto me, and bowed themselves to me, saying, Go out, thou and all the people who are at thy feet; and afterwards I do go out; ' -- and he goeth out from Pharaoh in the heat of anger.
Exodus 11 Whole Chapter • 9 And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'Pharaoh doth not hearken unto you, so as to multiply My wonders in the land of Egypt; ' • 10 and Moses and Aaron have done all these wonders before Pharaoh, and Jehovah strengtheneth Pharaoh's heart, and he hath not sent the sons of Israel out of his land.
Jeremiah 46: 13 -28 • 13 The word that Yehovah hath spoken unto Jeremiah the prophet concerning the coming in of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, to smite the land of Egypt: • 14 'Declare ye in Egypt, and sound in Migdol, Yea, sound in Noph, and in Tahpanhes say: Station thyself, yea, prepare for thee, For a sword hath devoured around thee, • 15 Wherefore hath thy bull been swept away? He hath not stood, because Jehovah thrust him away.
Jeremiah 46: 13 -28 • 16 He hath multiplied the stumbling, Yea one hath fallen upon his neighbour, And they say: Rise, and we turn back to our people, And unto the land of our birth, Because of the oppressing sword. • 17 They have cried there: Pharaoh king of Egypt is a desolation, Passed by hath the appointed time. • 18 I live -- an affirmation of the King, Jehovah of Hosts is His name, Surely as Tabor is among mountains, And as Carmel by the sea -- he cometh in,
Jeremiah 46: 13 -28 • 19 Goods for removal make for thee, O inhabitant, daughter of Egypt, For Noph becometh a desolation, And hath been burnt up, without inhabitant. • 20 A heifer very fair is Egypt, Rending from the north doth come into her. • 21 Even her hired ones in her midst are as calves of the stall, For even they have turned, They have fled together, they have not stood, For the day of their calamity hath come on them, The time of their inspection.
Jeremiah 46: 13 -28 • 22 Its voice as a serpent goeth on, For with a force they go, And with axes they have come in to her, As hewers of trees. • 23 They have cut down her forest, An affirmation of Yehovah -- for it is not searched, For they have been more than the grasshopper, And they have no numbering.
Jeremiah 46: 13 -28 • 24 Ashamed hath been the daughter of Egypt, She hath been given into the hand of the people of the north. • 25 Said hath Yehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am seeing after Amon of No, And after Pharaoh, and after Egypt, And after her gods, and after her kings, And after Pharaoh, and after those trusting in him, • 26 And I have given them into the hand of those seeking their life, And into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, And into the hand of his servants, And afterwards it is inhabited, As in days of old -- an affirmation of Yehovah.
Jeremiah 46: 13 -28 • 27 And thou, thou dost not fear, my servant Jacob, Nor art thou dismayed, O Israel, For lo, I am saving thee from afar, And thy seed from the land of their captivity, And Jacob hath turned back, And hath been at rest, and been at ease, And there is none disturbing. • 28 Thou, thou dost not fear, My servant Jacob, An affirmation of Jehovah -- for with thee I am, For I make an end of all the nations Whither I have driven thee, And of thee I do not make an end, And I have reproved thee in judgment, And do not entirely acquit thee!'
Mark 5: 1 -19 • YLT Mark 5: 1 And they came to the other side of the sea, to the region of the Gadarenes, • 2 and he having come forth out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, • 3 who had his dwelling in the tombs, and not even with chains was any one able to bind him,
Mark 5: 1 -19 • 4 because that he many times with fetters and chains had been bound, and pulled in pieces by him had been the chains, and the fetters broken in pieces, and none was able to tame him, • 5 and always, night and day, in the mountains, and in the tombs he was, crying and cutting himself with stones. • 6 And, having seen Jesus from afar, he ran and bowed before him,

' and he answered, saying, 'Legion is my name, because we are many; '
Mark 5: 1 -19 • 10 and he was calling on him much, that he may not send them out of the region. • 11 And there was there, near the mountains, a great herd of swine feeding, • 12 and all the demons did call upon him, saying, 'Send us to the swine, that into them we may enter; ' • 13 and immediately Jesus gave them leave, and having come forth, the unclean spirits did enter into the swine, and the herd did rush down the steep place to the sea -- and they were about two thousand -- and they were choked in the sea.
Mark 5: 1 -19 • 14 And those feeding the swine did flee, and told in the city, and in the fields, and they came forth to see what it is that hath been done; • 15 and they come unto Jesus, and see the demoniac, sitting, and clothed, and right-minded -- him having had the legion -- and they were afraid; • 16 and those having seen it, declared to them how it had come to pass to the demoniac, and about the swine;
Mark 5: 1 -19 • 17 and they began to call upon him to go away from their borders. • 18 And he having gone into the boat, the demoniac was calling on him that he may be with him, • 19 and Jesus did not suffer him, but saith to him, 'Go away to thy house, unto thine own friends, and tell them how great things the Lord did to thee, and dealt kindly with thee;

Today’s Joke • The second Rabbi said, “Oh that’s nothing we now have a snack bar in the basement that serves ham sandwiches after the service. ” • The third Reformed Rabbi said, “You aren’t even in the same league as we are…
Today’s Joke • We’re so reformed we’re closed for all the Jewish holidays. ”
The Wars of the Middle East • Last Shabbat we looked at one of the different reasons that are used by the Church to explain all the various wars today between the Arabs and the Jews.
The Wars of the Middle East • They often teach that it’s an age old enmity between Isaac and Ishmael. • We discovered that couldn’t possibly be the reason because Ishmael actually fights alongside of Israel today.
The Wars of the Middle East • The second reason that is often given by the Church and by those in the world as well is that these wars happening in recent history is because of military and strategic reasons.
The Wars of the Middle East • So we're going to take a look at that today. • The first thing we want to look at is Israel’s ancient history to see how things happened then in Israel.
The Wars of the Middle East • In order to do that we need to realize that Israel is the land bridge between Africa and Asia and between Africa and Europe.
The Wars of the Middle East • The great empires of antiquity were all around her. • The Egyptian empire was to the south; the Hittite empire was to the north; the Babylonian empire was to the east and the Assyrian empire was to the northeast.
The Wars of the Middle East • The boundaries of these ancient empires rarely remained static. • They either expanded or contracted into collapse. • The motto seemed to be: conquer or be conquered.
The Wars of the Middle East
The Wars of the Middle East • The Assyrian empire conquered the ‘fertile crescent’ of Mesopotamia. • This was the fertile area fed by the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. • The only threat to their power was the wealthy empire of Egypt.
The Wars of the Middle East • The Assyrian army massed to march south to take Egypt in the 8 th century. • In order to get to Egypt they had to march through the coastlands of Israel.
The Wars of the Middle East • One of the cardinal rules of military operation is that one must have secure supply lines. • A second rule is to have no enemy threat to the rear.
The Wars of the Middle East • Thus, as Assyria marched toward the big empire of Egypt, they subjected the petty kingdoms lying in their path.
The Wars of the Middle East • Israel and Judah were two of these small kingdoms along the line of march. • So, Assyria conquered Israel and deported the majority of the inhabitants.
The Wars of the Middle East • The next kingdom in the way was Judah. • The Assyrians took the coastal cities and the main part of the army continued south to Egypt. • About 200, 000 stayed behind to finish off Judah.
The Wars of the Middle East • The part of the Assyrian army left in Judah took all the walled cities except Lachish and Jerusalem. • As Lachish was about to fall, the Rabshakeh (the Assyrian word for General) went up to Jerusalem.
The Wars of the Middle East • When the Rabshakeh arrived outside the walls of Jerusalem he called on King Hezekiah to surrender and open the gates of Jerusalem.
The Wars of the Middle East • The General pointed out the futility of continued resistance so Hezekiah went to the Temple of the LORD and began to pray.
The Wars of the Middle East • God sent Isaiah the Prophet to tell the King that GOD would fight the Assyrians for them.
The Wars of the Middle East • That night a messenger from the LORD smote the Assyrian army that was encamped around Lachish. • One Hundred and eighty five thousand died that night of the plague.
The Wars of the Middle East • The survivors decided it would be a good idea to go home. So they returned to Assyria.
The Wars of the Middle East • In the natural, Judah did not have a hope of remaining free from Assyria. • Israel and Judah were always at risk to the large empires around them.
The Wars of the Middle East • They had to rely on GOD for protection. • When ever they turned away from following the LORD, there was an empire nearby waiting, ready to gobble them up.
The Wars of the Middle East • Many other wars like this took place in antiquity. • Egypt would go up through Israel to fight the Persians then the Babylonians would march through to take Egypt and this sort of thing happened time and time again.
The Wars of the Middle East People who know ancient history and warfare, assume that the same conditions apply to Israel today. • She is still the land bridge between three major continents and thus must still be of great strategic importance. •
The Wars of the Middle East • But what they should take a look at is modern warfare. • The United States and the British fought Nazi Germany in north Africa in WW II. • They then continued the fight in southern Europe.
The Wars of the Middle East • Did the USA and England march through Israel to get to the Nazis in Italy? • No, they took ships and used aircraft. The same way they got to north Africa in the first place.
The Wars of the Middle East • The United States has aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean Sea. • They do not need air bases in the land of Israel.
The Wars of the Middle East • Israeli ports and Israeli air fields could be a help to big countries fighting in the Middle East, but they are not critical for carrying out modern military operations.
The Wars of the Middle East • The Moslems have Lebanon to the north and Egypt to the south of Israel, which have air bases and sea ports. • They also don’t have a military need for the land of Israel.
The Wars of the Middle East • So obviously the military strategic importance of Israel is NOT the root cause of the continued wars between Israel and her Moslem neighbors.
The Wars of the Middle East • The next thing on our list to look at is is it an economic struggle?
The Wars of the Middle East • Poor countries always seem to look with greedy eyes at their neighbors. • Their neighbors may be no better off then they are, but as the saying goes; ‘the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. ’
The Wars of the Middle East • Are Israel’s neighbors, the nearby Moslem nations, lusting after Israel’s wealth?
The Wars of the Middle East • One of the myths you hear that goes around the church every ten years is that Israel has discovered this vast oil reserve in the land.
The Wars of the Middle East • They find a little oil from time to time but it’s not even enough to run their own country.
The Wars of the Middle East • I remember Steven brought it up to me again a few months ago. • Every so often this same rumor spreads around the Churches.
The Wars of the Middle East So does Israel have vast oil fields? No, they have 12 oil wells. • The combined production is about 50 barrels per day. •
The Wars of the Middle East • There are literally hundreds of oil wells in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Yemen, and other Arab countries which produce from a single well more than all twelve Israeli oil wells combined.
The Wars of the Middle East • Another problem with the oil in Israel is that it is full of sulfur and so it costs more to refine. • Libyan oil is known in the trade as ‘Libyan Sweet’ since it is nearly pure and sulfur free.
The Wars of the Middle East • Israel is NOT oil rich. • It is their Moslem neighbors who are rolling in petro-dollars. • Israel cannot produce enough oil for their national needs.
The Wars of the Middle East • They cannot buy oil directly from Moslem countries and so are forced to buy through third parties. • This makes the cost of petroleum products very expensive in Israel.
The Wars of the Middle East • Does Israel have any natural resources that would cause envy in the hearts of her neighbors?
The Wars of the Middle East Israel has no diamond mines. Israel has no rubies, emeralds or any other gem stones. • There are no gold or silver mines in Israel has no precious metals. •
The Wars of the Middle East Israel does not have any iron mines, copper mines or any other needed ores. • All industrial metals must be imported. •
The Wars of the Middle East • Israel has no forests to use for paper products. They must also be imported. • Israel has no exploitable mineral wealth.
The Wars of the Middle East • Many books on prophecy tell how the ‘great Gog of the North’ will come to conquer Israel to get the ‘vast wealth’ of the Dead Sea.
The Wars of the Middle East • It is true that there are trillions of dollars worth of mineral deposits in the Dead Sea.
The Wars of the Middle East • Just as there are uncountable trillions of dollars worth of minerals in all sea water. • The concentration is, of course, higher in the Dead Sea. • But there is one problem… • It costs about $. 89 cents to get $1. 00 worth of minerals out of the Dead Sea.
The Wars of the Middle East • This is NOT a good return on investment business dollars. A company cannot manage to stay in business without at least a 22% profit margin and some say 28% is needed.
The Wars of the Middle East • Dead Sea water is extremely corrosive. It will eat up any iron based metal in short order. • The salt content is so high that it is hard to separate other minerals from the mix. • The procedure is time consuming and costly.
The Wars of the Middle East • The USA has two similar seas. The Great Salt Lake in Utah and the Salton Sea in California. • Do you see people fighting over mineral rights there? • No, neither will nations fight over the Dead Sea.
The Wars of the Middle East • Israel’s economy is based on agriculture, computer based technology and tourism. • Both Lebanon and Jordan have the same basic soil as Israel and they all grow the same products. • There is no big difference in that field.
The Wars of the Middle East • Israel exports flowers to Europe in the winter and sends strawberries in February. • Jordan does the same on her side of the Jordan River. •
The Wars of the Middle East • Israel has her Dead Sea Salt Works and Jordan has her operations on her side of the Dead Sea. • Remember, half of the Dead Sea belongs to Jordan (which the Anti. Christ isn’t able to take into control).
The Wars of the Middle East • The point is that Israel does not have any great wealth that would arouse her neighbors into attacking her. • There is no economic disparity that fuels the Middle East wars.
The Wars of the Middle East Individual Egyptians may be poorer than Israelis, but over all the GNP of Egypt is far greater than that of Israel. • Many of the surrounding countries are oil rich. •
The Wars of the Middle East • Lebanon is more fertile. • In fact, the only country in the area that is NOT better off than Israel is Jordan. • The main difference between them is the educational level of their citizens rather than the worth of the land.
The Wars of the Middle East • If economics is not at the root of the Middle East conflict, what IS the problem? Could it be spiritual?
The Wars of the Middle East • In order to answer that we have to understand the throne of the L-rd.
The Wars of the Middle East • God set His Throne on a mountain He picked from ALL other mountains on earth and in fact from ALL other mountains in the universe.
The Wars of the Middle East • It was on this mountain, God’s Holy Mountain that the Covering Cherub, Lucifer, rebelled and sin entered creation. • Ezekiel 28: 16 calls this mountain: The Mountain of GOD.
The Wars of the Middle East • This mountain of G-d is where G-d’s throne used to sit and will one day sit again. • This is where G-d rules from and is THE place of authority.
The Wars of the Middle East • What is this mountain named? • Har Tzion! • It also goes by the name Har Moriah
The Wars of the Middle East • It is also called Har Miggidon… The Mount of Rendezvous (Armageddon). • Another name it goes by is Har Moed… the Mount of the Congregation.
The Wars of the Middle East • This place of authority is what Lucifer has always been after. • He wants to exalt his throne above G-d’s throne.
The Wars of the Middle East • Isaiah 14: 13 • “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the Mount of the Congregation, in the sides of the north: ” (KJV).
The Wars of the Middle East • Satan wanted and stills wants, to take GOD’s Throne and thus replace GOD. • In order to show that he is God, Satan MUST have his throne on Mt. Zion, on the sides of the north.
The Wars of the Middle East • That is where GOD put His Throne, and if you are going to replace Him that is where your throne must be placed. • Now we know the location of G-D’s Holy Mountain. • It is right here on the planet Earth, in the Land of Israel.
The Wars of the Middle East • Mt. Zion. • With the whole universe to choose from, we do not have a clue as to why GOD chose the Milky Way Galaxy out of 100, 000 plus galaxies.
The Wars of the Middle East • Then, with all the mountains on earth to choose from, the Alps, the Rockies, the Himalayas, etc. , He choose Mt. Zion. Why? • The Bible never tells us ‘why’ GOD chose Mt. Zion.
The Wars of the Middle East • However, since Mt. Zion is mentioned hundreds of times in His Word, we do understand that it is indeed quite important to Him.
The Wars of the Middle East • Another thing we understand is that GOD always has a purpose in what He does. • So, when He chose Mt. Zion, He had a very good reason for doing so whether we know exactly what that reason is or not.
The Wars of the Middle East • Because we know this about the character of G-d, that He does what is best, we have to trust Him in all things. • So now we know the reason for all the turmoil we see happening in Israel.
The Wars of the Middle East • It is a battle for G-d’s throne. • A battle between good and evil. • It is not ethnic, political or economic. • Sure those may be used as excuses but it is not the root of the problem
The Wars of the Middle East • The root is Lucifer still trying to be G-d. • The enemy will do everything he can to undermine G-d’s work and plan. • Satan will imitate and counterfeit but it’s never like the original. • Shabbat Shalom.
