+ ACT Exam All Juniors in the state of NC will be required to take the ACT exam for free on Tuesday, Feb. 27 th. You will pre code your answer sheets with Mrs. Measamer on Wednesday in the cafeteria during 3 rd block. Students absent will take the test on a later date in March.

Chatham County Requires an additional 6 Electives Totaling 28 credits to get a high school diploma.

+ Promotion Requirements To be promoted to the 12 th Grade, you must pass 20 Classes by the end of this year. Chatham County Schools does not do mid semester promotions.

+ Early Graduation/Dismissal n Early Graduation is for rising seniors who have never failed a course. You will take four classes first semester & none 2 nd semester. You will not get your high school diploma until June. You may still participate in the prom or any other senior activities 2 nd semester. It is your responsibility to keep up w/ info. given to seniors. Early Dismissal is for students in good academic standing. You may leave after 3 rd block 2 nd semester only. n You must complete an Early Graduation/Dismissal form from Mrs. Kivett. n No students will be approved for Early Graduation or Early Dismissal until final grades are reported from your Junior year in June. Therefore, all students will register for 8 classes.

+ Honors & AP Classes n All students may register for any of the Honors or AP courses in the course catalog. If you have never taken an honors course and are uncertain if you can handle it, please consult your teacher in this subject area. n All Honors/AP English Courses requires a Summer Reading Packet. You may get them from an English teacher or on our the Counseling Office webpage on our school’s website under the Registration tab. The Reading Packet is to be turned in to your English teacher the FIRST DAY of school no matter which semester you have English.

+ NC High School to Community College Articulation Agreement The NC Dept. of Public Instruction and the NC Community College System have a statewide articulation agreement in which students may be eligible to receive college credit after completion of identified Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses in high school. This creates a systematic and seamless process in which students can move from high school to community college without having to duplicate efforts or repeat courses.

+ Career & College Promise Classes: Community College Online Classes that will Transfer to all UNC Universities and almost all Private Universities. Community College classes that are aligned with a CTE Pathway in order to give you Community College credit. Both classes will also give you high school credit.

+ CCCC Courses – College Transfer Juniors or Seniors Only n These courses require an application to be completed by each registered student. n To meet eligibility requirements, you must have a weighted 3. 0 GPA. n You must demonstrate college readiness. n You must maintain a 70 average or higher in your CCCC classes to continue taking CCCC classes. n A complete list of CCCC College Transfer classes can be found on the back side of the 1 st page of your registration sheet. n

+ CCCC College Transfer Classes n The College Transfer courses will be taught on line in the computer lab. You will take up to two online courses during a class period. n These classes count as an honors class. Therefore, you will receive one extra grade point towards your high school GPA. n They will transfer to any college as long as you have a 70 or higher. n. + CTE Career Pathway Courses Some of the CTE Pathway courses are taught at other locations, however, most are taught online. Most of these classes will not give you an extra quality point towards your GPA. + Timeline for Registration n Registration March 1 st. through 3 rd period classes starts Thursday, n TURN IN REGISTRATION SHEETS TO YOUR 3 rd BLOCK TEACHERS BEFORE March 1 st with your signature & your parent’s signature completed. n We will hand out registration schedules beginning with seniors first this summer. You will be able to make changes when schedules are ready to be picked up August 13 th & August 15 th. Times to be announced. n During Schedule Changes, you may request “wanna” changes. Once this week is over, you may no longer ask for these changes.
