Instant messenger When a friend sends a message through messenger, think before you click on it. Computer viruses can spread very quickly, so don’t download it, if you don’t know what it contains. Phone your friend ask him what it contains first
Emails Only open emails from people you know and trust Read carefully, what it is about and if it sounds like its not from your friend, don’t open it It might be a virus It may be a good idea to download anti-virus software just to be safe Be careful on what you delete, make sure it is junk mail
Chain mails You may receive an email which if you don’t forward it to ten other people something bad will happen, well it won’t Chain mails can only scare you, an electronic page can never actually harm you Don’t forward it just delete it
Chain mail For example: If you don’t send this email to ten other people in the next 48 hours, your family will be killed next week and it will all be your fault. If you do send this, your true love will appear next week.
Chat rooms A chat room is a open environment where groups can chat to each other, but you can chat to anyone. These days you can chat to people in loads of different ways, from your computer, mobile, webcam, game console. These sites normally have age restrictions of about 13, but people can lie about their age. Make sure you only speak to people you know. Keep an eye on what is being
TOP TIPS Only speak to people you know Don’t use your real name online Have good privacy setting and don’t post personal information Delete chainmail Don’t click on attachments if you don’t know who they are or what they are
