Characterization Definition-Characterization is the creating of many diverse characters though the way they, act their gestures, and the emotions they display.

Direct Presentation Definition-When an author plainly states the personality of character he is trying to create revealing the type of character they truly are. Example- “Graham Greene uses direct presentation when he tells us about Blackie: ‘He was just, he had no jealousy’”
Indirect Presentation Definition-This way of presenting a characters traits is done through indirect means like showing a scene where the characters traits shine through. Example- “When he shows Blackie allowing the gang to vote on Trevor’s project. ”
Dramatized Definition-This is a style used by an author of the story that proves to us each characters traits through scenes where their traits are exaggerated. Example- “Dramatic scenes in which the character says spiteful things and reveals their insecurities through their actions. ”
Flat Character Definition- When an author creates a character with two predominant traits and usually takes 1 to 2 sentences to describe them. Example- “Richard Connell ‘s character Ivan for instances is a fearsome thug and that is all that we need to know about him. ”
Round Character Definition-Are characters that are well developed characters that the author takes time to develop Example- “Huck Fin for example because Mark Twain imagined and dramatized him so successfully as an individual, lives vigorously in the imagination of millions of readers. ”
Stock Character Definition-A type of character that has been used over and over in stories as a character that is easy to understand throughout the story. Example- “A mad scientist who preformed fiendish experiments on living people. ”
Static Character Definition-This is a character that does not change there way of thought out the story Example- “Atticus Finch from the novel To Kill a Mockingbird. ”
Developing (Dynamic) Character Definition-This type of character undergoes a change in the story that is significant not like a gesture or habit Example- “Piscine Molitar Patel from the novel Life of Pi. ”
Epiphany Definition-A point in the story in which character experiences spiritual insight or guidance. Its also the point where developing character changes. Example- “Pi Patel has an epiphany when he comes to realize that he must tame the tiger. ”
