Self vs. Self Definition • When a character is pitied against himself, his beliefs, or his prejudices Example • Perks Of Being A Wallflower, Charlie has too have the courage to leave the social class he is in as he fights with depression.
Self vs. Society Definition • A character pitied against his culture and going against social norms Example • Ruby Bridges, from the movie Ruby Bridges, going to an all white school as the only black girl.
