CASE The case of a noun or pronoun is a change in form that indicates its grammatical function in a phrase, clause, or sentence. Example: a noun may play the role of subject ("I kicked the ball"), or direct object (“Sextus kicked me“)

Latin Cases Latin has 6 cases to denote 6 different grammatical functions in a sentence. Not all cases are used in every sentence.

Nominative Case Subject of a sentence Lupus eum terret. Lupi pueros terrent. Puella est laeta.

Accusative Case Direct Object in a sentence Puellae lupum vident. Servi lupos repellunt. Mater puellam laetam videt.

Declensions Declension is the inflection of nouns, pronouns, adjectives, and articles to indicate number, case and gender. Latin nouns have 5 declensions

Case & Declension Number, 1 st 2 nd Declension Case, Gender Declension Masculine Feminine 3 rd Declension Mas & Fem Singular Nominative Accusative puella servus puer pater puellam servum puerum patrem Plural Nominative Accusative puellae servi puellas servos pueri patres pueros patres

Nota bene!! 3 rd Declension nouns have the same endings for both nominative & accusative plural!!! (-ES) Clamores matres audiunt.
