WHY ARE CABLES AND CONNECTORS IMPORTANT IN MEDIA? Cables and connectors are important in media because it is indicates what is plugged up or connected to which device which displays a certain feature in television production on a studio set.
USB AND FIREWIRE CABLES USB- stands for universal serial bus. A usb cable is used to connect computers to devices such as cameras, printers, phones etc. A firewire connector is a popular connector for a peripheral is any auxillary device such as a computer mouse or keyboard that conadding peripherals to your computer. Peripherals- nects to and works with the computer in some way.
T & F CONNECTOR A T- Connector is a connector that is shaped like the capital letter T. It is made of metal and was made to combine two signals into one. A F- Connector is a type of connector that carries an RF signal.
⅛’’ & ¼’’ CONNECTOR A ⅛’’ connector is 1/8" in diameter and single-pronged. This connector is displayed on personal audio devices. A ¼’’ connector is 1/4" in diameter and single-pronged with a little indentation near the end of the prong. This connector is displayed on the cord of headphones.
BARRELL ADAPTER A type of adapter that has the same type of connector and connector end on both sides.
BNC CONNECTOR A type of connector commonly used in television production. The female and male versions lock together securely with a simply 1/4 -turn twist.
XLR CONNECTOR A XLR connector is a connector for microphones that have 3 -pins. The male and female ends lock together with a hook.
Y/C CONNECTOR A video input and output connector that is characterized by four tiny round pins and a rectangular plastic stabilizing pin.
RCA PHONO CONNECTOR A RCA Phono connector is where you find your home entertainment system components on the back. The female connector is usually a chassis mounted connector. The male phono connector is usually a cable and connector with a single, center prong surrounded by a shorter crown.
