The “List of Works Cited” • What is the “List of Works Cited”? (You can also call it the “Bibliography” or “Literature Cited”, but this title is most appropriate) • How do I know what goes in it? (any resource you used to find information for your research paper) • When do I create it? (as you search for references – the ones not used can be deleted later) • Why have a “List of Works Cited”? (it documents the sources of the information you found so others can use it as well) • Who will use the “List of Works Cited”? (other scholars studying the same topic, perhaps) • What order is it in? (everything is put in alphabetical order according to the authors’ last names – if there is no author, the title is used to place the resource in the right place [do not include A, An, or The])
